Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
yes went to game. slow start but you could see that just timmys presence alone was enough to alter and change the denver shot selection. didn't take my camera cuz its kinda bulky (sony cybershot) and thought they wouldn't let me in with it but they didn't even search me, d'oh!

some highlights of the game for me:

  1. vaughn rebounds ball from a sitting position, clears the ball, and we score the basket.

  2. many, many long balls.

  3. hi-fives coyote when he came up to my section (have an aisle seat in the nosebleeds)

  4. presentation of Bonner's Wicked Awesome Section banner. it was wicked awesome.

  5. im mesican so i feel ashamed for not knowing the name of the song but they played this mexican ballad towards the end of the game (we were up by  a bagillion give or take) and everyone went nuts!

  6. sitting on the aisle seat is a prime seat for oogling girls going up and down the steps in their low cut shirts and tight jeans.

Home Sweet Home For Spurs
DEN: 98
SA: 104

After two dismal losses on the road, San Antonio returns home tonight, hoping to get back on the winning track. Here's to a healthy trio of Duncan, Manu, and Parker!!!

Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
the denver nuggets...lets see...one of my favorite teams.  why you ask?

AI - just about the poster boy for everything that's wrong with profesional athletes today.  doesnt wanna practice, doesnt wanna come off the bench.  doesnt wanna throw many passes either.

melo - almost as much of a whiny-ass bitch as AI.  he now has the perfect mentor.

camby - this guy was defensive player of the yaer last year? he can't even play help D.

kenton martin - true class.  this is the guy who first publicly called out keith van horn for one bad game in the finals only to follow that with a couple of donuts vs. tim the following year. if that was not enough, he's the guy who picked a fight with zo mourning during his comeback, by yelling out "oh, my kidney!!" in practice. this guy is pretty much the focal point of my sports hate in this world today.

and their leader?  original spur george karl.  while i dont wanna say too much bad about him because of this, let's be honest here, he has pretty much taken every opportunity that he could to disparage the spurs in general and manu ginobili in specific.

anyone else notice the cheap-shot beating this team has given manu since he turned them down in free agency a few years back? many, many hard cheap fouls.

this team has more pricks than the baltimore ravens, and i did not think that was possible.  ok, its a close race.

all that said, i dont like the match-up tonite without frenchy and a rusty tim (at best). however, i do feel better about venting my disdain for the nugs.

i'll say:

denver  97
SA 92

Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
The nebulousness of Tim's playing status makes me hesitant to make a prediction; however I'll go with:

Spurs 95
Nuggets 89

The Spurs are too mentally tough for these dudes.

Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
Good win, man the Spurs own these dudes!!! I am tickled to death over Finley's performance and Oberto was easily the best player on the floor tonight. Bring on the team that still can not stop crying...

Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
I wasn't able to watch the game tonight -- or listen to it -- needless to say, I'm stunned to read a headline like "Finley and Oberto lead Spur's charge past Nuggets".

A very nice win.

Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
Oberto playing out of his skin...  I was impressed, to say the least.  I guess we can now offically play any combination of players and still have a great chance of winning.

Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
ptruser: the song is Volver, Volver, an old Vicente Fernandez standard that is guaranteed to send every Mexican/Chicano within earshot into convulsions of tequila shots and gritos. I heard it over the tv and it had the same effect. Ahua!

Re: Game Thread # 23 -- vs. Denver
it was?! thats what i told people when trying to describe it "a ballad like volver, volver but not that one". the PA system didn't get to the chorus part where they sing 'volver, volver' so it never occurred to me that thats what it was. cool, thanks!
