Game Thread # 22 -- @ Los Angeles Lakers
Many phrases could be used to describe the Spurs performance against Golden State. However, if you desire accuracy, the word "shit" must be in there somewhere. Such as:
-The Spurs looked shitty.
-The Spurs might as well have taken a giant shit in the middle of the court.
-Matt Bonner was the only guy who didn't play shittastically.
What an awful and sad performance. I stopped watching early in the second quarter. I actually knew the Spurs were going to lose earlier than that, which is rare for me. Typically I don't read much into one play early in a game, but Tuesday night was an exception.
The play happened a couple of minutes after Ginobili checked in. Manu made one of his prototypical ill-advised passes which led to a mini fast break. The odd, disturbing element to all of this wasn't the turnover, it was the fact he didn't hustle back. This happened early in the first quarter, so fatigue is not a possible explanation, and he definitely could have gotten back into the play... it was by no means a lost cause. At the moment I knew we were fucked, no matter how many terrible shots Baron Davis took.
Maybe he's hurt. Maybe he had an emotionally taxing couple of days and he couldn't get it out of his head. Maybe the Spurs were trying to lose. Those are the only three possible explanations for an obvious lack of effort... I mean the guy was freaking -21 for the game. -21! To his credit he didn't mince words (emphasis mine):
The thing is, I'm not really complaining. The man can't be The Sickness every night and just because he's making millions doesn't mean he isn't human and entitled to a day off just like the rest of us. Just don't expect me to watch, you know?
He'll likely have all sorts of opportunities to be more productive tonight: both Parker and Duncan are doubtful against the Lakers.
I updated the contest standings through the Golden State game. Nobody picked the Spurs to lose to either Sacramento or Golden State.

The good thing is Pop wants the Spurs healthy for the title run..and I definitely know he doesn't want to coach the all star game so he will just keep sitting out Duncan until the Suns have a better record than we do!

I think he misspoke and he meant it like, "it's impossible to beat them if you turn it over so many times."

Didn't they deserve to keep at it? Does Pop not believe in rewards for players overachieving?

P.S. If it's not too late for all you procrastinating Christmas shoppers, please be so kind as to purchase your gifts through Amazon by going through the link at PtR. It helps make Matthew and me a little money and we need it.
Amazon is great. They have books, movies, DVDs, music, even sex toys, I think. They are the greatest company that ever existed. So frequent them lots, okay?
Do it for us. Do it for yourselves. Do it for your loved ones. But most of all, do it for us.

Re: Game Thread # 22 -- @ Los Angeles Lakers
so now he knows what kobe goes thru on a nightly basis.
i'll bet you that if our line-up from last night had been playing together for 2 weeks, the spurs would have won that game. the lakers are BA-AD. they really do suck. i cant believe that they will make the play-offs with that bunch...but maybe they will.
how many sweet passes did our old guys make? oberto, barry, JV, bob...all of them moved the ball around pretty well i thought - the super bon bon even had a couple good ones.
...and HEY, MANU STARTED!!!!!! ok, i'll give up on that one for a while......
somewhere along the line, i had to put the game on pause at my wife's insistence. she demanded that i go upstairs to the other TV and see some gossip show coverage of the eva/tony/miscellaneous french model scandal. comical.
must have worked out OK even if little TP did bone the french girl, as the bread-winner of the parker household was in row two last evening. will this saga be covered in the game recap, i wonder? perhaps little TPs ankle wasnt hurt at all - maybe he sat out the game with a case of amputated nuts?
i suppose that the whole thing wont be as uncomfortable as the kobe press conference on the colorado thing with his wife sitting right there. that may have been the worst thing i have ever seen in my life...talk about uncomfortable....

Re: Game Thread # 22 -- @ Los Angeles Lakers
I mean he just got married and it looks like Eva follows him everywhere he goes
Also lets consider he is being photographed a lot more because he is with her..so it would be rather difficult not to have any pictures of Tony and this "Model"
Bunch of crap!
Maybe I can see him cheating down the line but cheating after only two months of being married..sorry I don't buy that!
