Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?

Game 2:  Spurs 104, Memphis 101

I live in Austin.  Which, in case you don't know, is an entirely different city than San Antonio.  The Memphis game was shown in San Antonio on a local channel.  Austin, being, as I already stated, a different locale, has different local channels.  So just watch the game on NBA League Pass, right?  Nope.  Blacked out.  A road game, too.

That's dumb.  Really, really dumb.

So if you were lucky enough to watch the game go ahead and post your thoughts.  Stampler should have something up on SpursDynasty.com eventually.  Here's some relevant links:

Box score.
Game flow.

Congrats to PtR member bones for being closest to last night's final with his SA 102, MEM 97 prediction.

Yeah, I live in Austin and had the pleasure of following the box score online.  Really exciting. At least I got some work done on my Masters.  And it certainly appears that Ginobili rocks, but I already knew that.  Can't say that I'm happy with a nail biter against the Grizzlies.

Secondly, thank god you guys are back.  The summer fucking sucks.  I started reading this site last year and it changed my life man ... changed my life.

I live in Austin and have the NBA League Pass on Time Warner and the game was on.  What provider are you guys using?

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
What the shit?  I have Time Warner, didn't see it on any of the League Pass channels, called customer service and was told it would be blacked out.

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
It was on TEAM8.  It wasn't showing in the program guide data but if you tuned to that channel, the game was on.

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
Sadly, I don't have the league pass.  I have trouble juggling my three loves, the Spurs, Longhorn Football, and my wife.  Not to mention my likes such as Longhorn basketball and the Boys.  My wife would kill me if I watched even more sports.

Still, I live in Austin.  I don't understand why the Spurs don't always have top billing.

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
Apparently, Memphis has all the foreign perimeter-shooting white guys the Spurs hadn't scouted.

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
I'll assume you have internet access in Austin.
So, visit http://www.nba.com/broadband/alp_schedule.html because NBA Audio League Pass is free this year if you have (or open) a free account there.  I was able to get the Spurs feed of last night's game.

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
I'm in Corpus and was surprised that they showed the game on NBA league pass. Just hope that holds for the rest of their out of town games. And, yes, Manu was incredible, throughout the game, but particularly, as usual, down the stretch. Somehow, watching the game, you just knew he was going to take it over and win it ... and he did. An interesting point: on the NBA training camp video, they show Manu and others doing the boxing routine with Jesse James Leija. Manu looks like he could have been a professional boxer, his timing, power, coordination and execution are flawless. Me thinks that little nuance gives us some insight as to why he is so damn good ... and why he is so often underestimated by so many opponents in the NBA. He certainly doesn't look like a boxer, but I guarantee you, he would knock out every other player in the NBA in 30 seconds, regardless of size. He's got lightning quick reflexes and pinpoint precision. Reminded me of Sugar Ray Leonard in his prime. Who'd a thunk it?

Powell - Question on the contest.  I noticed Bones guessed 102-97.  I guessed 101-96.  Is there a difference?  In other words, is the total points combined part of the guesswork?  I realize this is a work in progress.  Just curious.

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
if you have league pass and the game is blacked out you can always watch live on your computer at nba.com. That is what I did last year when I wasn't home or missed any Spurs game. They also archive the games so you can watch them the next day.

Re: Manu Ginobili Beat Their Ass?
how bout me getting closest to the score? or at least tying for it? dont i feel smart.

game was similar to the first one if you ask me.  it was a young team, playing hard and playing well.  spurs kind of out-worked them at the end like veteran teams do.

we pushed the lead to about 7-8 and then went cold for a stretch in the last 3 minutes that gave the griz a chance to catch up.

manu sunk all of his free throws (or almost all of them).  we win.  manu frankly stole it from them by beating all the memphis guys to the punch when it came to making himself available for the inbounds pass after a make.  they couldnt keep him off it it.  he would get it, pick up the foul and sink the throws.  that is what kept the lead for good.

i watched the NBA League Pass version with the Memphis crew (ugh).  but living in cincinnati.....its all i got.

one side note to share: my local high school football team made the state play-off this year.  i was over there the other day for something and noticed a bunch of those cheerleader hand-made signs that said "go turpin - pound the rock."

i dug around a little bit and found a neighborhood newspaper with a team article in it.  the coach explained that he was using our favorite jacob riis quote as a rallying cry for his team. the good word is spreading.
