Silver Stars
State of the Silver Stars Nation

Becky would've caught that bat, too
(via silverstarsnation.com)
A Silver Stars post? At this time of the year? I'm afraid that's what you're seeing, guys.
We'll get back to our scheduled Spurs obsession soon, but I thought it would be interesting to know what our gals are up to during the offseason. For those of you who don't know, in women's basketball European leagues (in particular the Russian league) actually pay much higher salaries than the WNBA, so just about every qualified WNBA player makes the trip to the Old Continent once they're sent fishing here. It's an interesting reversal of the NBA situation, isn't it?
The alchemical secret to turn the WNBA into a goldmine, after the jump:

WNBA Silver Stars Season Wrap-up: There Is No FSM
This post is overdue. I apologize, but after a painful loss like Monday's I needed some time to process it, put things in perspective, tell myself that "it's just a silly game".
For those of you that missed the memo, the Silver Stars lost to the Mercury in the third game of the best-of-three Western Conference Semifinals, and thus their season is now over. Finished. Finito. Those who joined me during our game thread know that it was an incredible game, and that our gals fought valiantly. It was anybody's game up to the last two minutes, and they matched what's arguably the best team in the league these days.
I'm sure they even managed to help some of the regulars shake off their seemingly implacable offseason sopor. Or at least I hope so. They accomplished far more with me.
Let's say goodbye, see you in 8 longs months - after the jump.

WNBA Playoffs Game 3: Silver Stars @ Mercury Game Thread
A list of our needs for tonight: a deluge of threes, a torrent of clutch shots, a monsoon of Becky and Ann and Sophia and Vickie. We need teardrops, we need sweat, we need a downpour to cleanse and inspire our bench players. We need Coach Hughes to direct our dancers with all his experience and... ...
We need to know when we've taken an analogy too far. Join us tonight - we need to make Stan cry.

WNBA Playoffs Game 2: Silver Stars @ Mercury Recap
There will be time in the offseason for recriminations regarding our horrendous loss to the Mercury on Saturday. We will point fingers, assign blame and generally act like any other basketball fan online (bloggers will be bloggers). This is not the time, though - the simple truth is that the series is now tied at 1-1, and both teams will play tonight facing the possible end of their 2009 season.. And we have yet to see which team will land the last punch.
A proper recap of game 2 to read while we prepare for what could be the Mercury's last game of the season, after the jump.

WNBA Playoffs Game 2: Silver Stars @ Mercury Game Thread

TP: "Sacre bleu... diz game eez infinitezly better than watching ze Houzewivez."
Where's LatinD? is the first thing that comes to mind upon seeing this. I saw that perplexed look on your face from a mile away as I have a 6th sense, but don't tell anybody, mmmkay? If you've been following our previous playoffs game thread, PtR's resident WNBA-lover boy has been caught by the Jinx Police and the questioning/interrogration process will prevent him from putting up a thread for Game 2.
So, I'm here. Let's try to make it a bit worthwhile for our girls, shall we?

WNBA Playoffs: Silver Stars Vs. Mercury Game Thread
Whatever I had to say about this game, I already put it in my preview. Everything you want to know about the Mercury is probably in Stan's preview over at Swish Appeal. For this game thread I'm simply going to do what any classic PTR hack would do: resort to pretty pictures and hope they distract you from the lack of real content.
Something inane but colorful, after the jump.

WNBA Playoffs: Silver Stars Vs. Mercury Preview

Not quite equal shock value
Have you ever wondered what's the difference between a good blogger and a hack? Well, with the start of the WNBA playoffs just around the corner, a good blogger -like Bright Side of the Sun's Phoenix Stan- would write a thorough preview with so many Xs and Os that Pop would probably look at it and collapse from information overload. On the other hand, a hack would simply use his time to 'chop Becky Hammon into a photo of Timmy's famous dagger.
Can you blame me, though?
Your preview, after the jump.

San Antonio Silver Stars Vs Seattle Storm Game Thread
Last game thread of the regular season, people. There won't be much of a preview, but if you happen to want to watch it - well, magic could also happen here. Two's company. There's safety in numbers. Etc.
