Scenes from the Season
Friday Funnies - TJ v. Manu for the GQ Look
In honor of Manu's imminent return, here's a comic look at the contrasting fashion of TJ Ford and Manu as they sat together behind the bench. TJ started off rockin' the suit and tie, but as time has progressed he has come around the Manu's casual chic look. Here's my six-frame take on what was said the first night they sat together: Manu in black velveteen sport coat, jeans, and open-collared shirt, and TJ in a light brown suit with coordinating shirt and tie.
Be sure to read how this all worked out on the Road Trip at the end of the post.

A Friday Funny From the Hornets Game
There wasn't much to see last night, but one picture begged for a caption. After Pop's very animated night on Wednesday, he was only slightly more subdued in his actions, but still as intense with his words. I had several pictures of the Silver Dancers in a really, really tacky outfit of white shorts with black chaps over them, but, sorry, no pics of cheerleaders on PTR - just use your imaginations. (You have to click on the title to see the full picture - not sure what happened with the editing program for SB Nation.)
Quick Takes from Behind the Bench v. Rockets
I sat behind the Spurs bench tonight, not the best place to view a game if you're only 5'2" tall and a certain 6'6" shooting guard is sitting in front of you (on a three inch cushion), but I wanted to post just a few quick pics. The first is for all you fans of Matt Bonner as he grabs a crucial rebound late in the game, on his way to a team high 10 for the night.

Thanks to Tony and the MOB, Spurs Defeat the Blazers
Tony and the MOB you ask? Men Off the Bench, my new name for the young 'uns who came in and played the roles of heroes at various times during this one. Tiago gets the nod as the man most likely to wear the Supermanu cape in this game - 5 of 5 shooting, 4 of 7 free throws - and 9 of his points came near the end of the third quarter when the game seemed to be slipping away from the Spurs.

Photo Quick Cap of the Shootout Against the Nuggets
No snarky captions from the Nuggets game, just some pics of pretty shots by various Spurs.
Ticket: $115; Beer & Burger: $13.75; Watching Spurs Dominate the Mavs: Priceless
Oh, what fun! Even the third quarter when both teams combined only scored 24 points! This game was over early, and the crowd sat back and enjoyed a buzzer to buzzer convincing win. The number that counted the most when it was all over: if the score had been based solely on 3 pointers, it would have been Spurs 48, Mavs 3. Gary Neal, starting for Manu, set the three point standard early:

Manu Provides New Year's Eve Fireworks
Coach Popovich got his 800th regular season win tonight. Longevity is a good thing, and so is continuity. Both Manu and Tim were quoted after the game as saying they were proud of their coach. Pop brushed aside any individual adulation by giving the credit to those who surround him: "When you get that number of wins, it does mean you’ve been hanging around for a while," he said. "You’ve got a good staff, good players and a good management team. We’ve all achieved 800 wins. I haven’t, really."
