I Don't Understand French Rapping, French People or French Humor

First clip is via SlamOnline, the rest I dug up from YouTube.

Hmm.  Apparently there aren't French words for "DJ" or "boom."  And are they saying "banos banos banos banos banos troi?"  Because in Spanish that's pretty much "bathroom bathroom bathroom bathroom bathroom three."  And I'm no rap producer, but you don't hear Jay-Zizzle rapping about three bathrooms.  Maybe seven, or eight bathrooms, but not three.

Just what the shit are Brent Barry and Nazr Mohammed doing in a rap video?  And just what the shit does Brent Barry have on his head?  And why can't I buy a Nike sweatshirt with Tony Parker's logo?

I... umm... I... just... well... yeah.

Found It!

Some Spurs fan did manage to put THE DUNK on Youtube.  There's no sound and the video's kinda grainy like the Zapruder film, but if you squint you can make out what appears to be a large nosed man slamming it over LaMarcus Aldridge.

Game Recaps Will Return Tomorrow!

Sorry, very lazy and very tired.  I have to get up in seven hours to play ball.  Poorly.  Picture Beno Udrih, but much fatter, and there you are.  But even though I'm only 5'11, I have the wingspan of somebody who's 6'1, so I can block shots like a motherfucker.

Anyway, to tide you over, here is a Manu mix on Youtube.  I like this one the most because the song so doesn't fit him, that it works in an ironic way.  The lyrics are so completely inappropriate.  It's some rapper talking about all these hos he's banging.

Here are the nfl picks..

NYJ at Min -3  Jets to win and cover

Cle at Bal -11.5  Ravens to win, Browns to cover

Hou at NE -11 Patriots to win, Texans to cover

Mia at Buf -1  Dolphins to win and cover

Brent Barry's Broken Buns

It's YouTube Monday people.  You've been waiting all weekend for this moment, haven't you?  It's ok to admit that.  We're all friends here.

Today I'm bringing you a funny HEB commercial featuring Brent Barry.  For those of you not from Texas, HEB is a popular grocery story chain.

My first job was at HEB.  The one over there on Culebra and, uh, Tezel?  Grissom?  I don't remember.  I'm not sure I ever knew.  I started as a bagger and then soon became a checker.  I'm telling you I was a damn checker prodigy.  Russet potatoes, produce code 4072.  I still gots it!

One thing that's a lot different about the west coast... checkers are slow out here.  At HEB they kept track of items scanned per minute.  I was around 30-35.  Out here the checkers top out at about 10.  Part of that is the setup of the registers, but I mostly blame the darn unions.

HEB needs a damn baggers union.  I remember doing "cart runs."  Middle of the summer, 98 degrees, blazing sun, and I'm out wrangling grocery carts for an hour at a time.  And the humidity reeked all sorts of havoc on my hair.

Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta

Before we get to the second installment of YouTube Monday, let's catchup on the weekend goings on here at PtR.

PtR user rick2g has taken the proud position in that quote box thing in the upper right.  Without a doubt the greatest thing ever said about my blog.

There's a contest!  With prizes!  If you don't participate I will shame you egregiously!

aaronstampler posted an excellent team preview that is required reading for all Spurs fans.

There's also a new Carnival of the NBA posted.

On to YouTube Monday!  This clip is an oldie but a goodie and the visuals need no introduction.  The soundtrack rules, but it's not safe for work [update:    the audio contains (really) foul language; turn it down and it's perfectly work safe].

It's YouTube Monday!

It's YouTube Monday people!

Here at PoundingTheRock.com I have a long standing tradition of starting revolving bits that never last more than a couple weeks.  Off the top of my head I can remember "Random Animated GIFs of Cats Wednesdays" and putting a random tidbit about myself after every post.

So the newest bit, sure to be shelved the minute anything goes wrong in my life, is YouTube Monday.  Every Monday morning you'll wake to an irresistible need to pee and a fresh YouTube clip here at PtR.  They'll more than likely be basketball related.

So, your first installment is a rather long (I suggest pausing the video and letting it load) clip of Michael Jordan's first 40 point game in the NBA, which happened to be against the Spurs.  It's interesting to listen to the announcers talk about "Captain Marvel," and the laissez-faire defensive style provides a stark contrast to the current state of the NBA.

Jordan looks so young and lithe; the game looks effortless to him.  He appears to be playing almost a different sport than the rest of the players.  And to think he was about the same age that Lebron is now.  Though Lebron appears to have already completed his physical maturation; the game looks effortless to King James as well, but he appears to be playing the same game as everyone else, just with a different set of DNA.  "It's evolution, baby."
