Having (a little too much) fun during the Spurs winning streak
Thank you Dallas Mavericks. Thank you for blowing us out so severely that Pop was compelled to use a lineup composed of James Anderson, Matt Bonner, Danny Green, Gary Neal and Tiago Splitter. The rest was history. I can't believe I'm saying this, but thank you Mark Cuban. You made this possible.

Why have our GREAT SCOUTS missed on this guy?
MARCUS DOUTHIT
Height: 210cm / 6'11''
Position: Power Forward / Center
Born: 1980
Weight: 106kg / 233.2lbs
Marcus Douthit's name might not ring a bell, especially if you haven't followed Asian basketball. I have quite intently watched this guy play for sometime now. He's of particular interest to me because he was naturalized by the Philippine government so that he could play for the Philippine team in FIBA Asia. During the FIBA Asia last year, he was among the, if not the, best big men in the entire tournament.
He is very disciplined on defense and has great timing. He handles the ball well for a big man and has a decent mid-range jumper and passing skills. He's fundamentally sound and I think if you would be able to see him play, you would not laugh at me saying that he's sort of like a poor man's Tim Duncan. Yes, he reminds me a lot of Timmeh... never flashy... very fundamental... but so efficient.
What I like most about him is that he's very composed and smart. Now, this brings me to the purpose of this post. I think he would be a great addition to our lineup as the 3rd big man behind Timmeh and Tiago... I must admit that he would not be a great option for the future because he'll be 32 this year, but since we have a great chance at getting Timmeh's 5th ring, then I think he'll be useful for us during the regular season... and possibly the playoffs.
Well, I'm really just impressed with this guy so I beg your pardon if you find this post annoying.

How much should we enjoy Tim Duncan's waning years?
I haven't been that angry in awhile.
Usually, I'm rather rational when I approach Spurs games. In most cases, I choose to stop, think and evaluate what the hell just happened before I inevitably come to my senses.
Yesterday was a different story. Either my new Spurs glasses came in the mail, I'm losing all semblance of self-respect or the terrible referees were unusually awful. I hope it's the referees. I really do.
I felt a wide range of emotions: anger (after the absolutely BS blocking foul that was actually a charge with about 3:15 left in the 4th quarter), shock (Mike Conley's improbable three-pointer), more anger (after a blown call where Memphis retained possession), a little more anger (after the referees decided fifty bad calls wasn't enough) and ultimately relief.
The Spurs won a game that we probably wouldn't have in December. A game where the refs were conspiring against us, the Grizzlies were not missing from the free throw line (18-21) while Timmy posted a vintage 19-17-3, 5 block line. As expected, he was awesome even under the utmost adversity. He remained the driving force behind Memphis shooting a meager .389 from inside nine feet.
2012 Free Agent Centers
Superman. And beyond. Not only is Dwight Howard on the market (and virtually guaranteed to not wear Silver and Black next season), but there are an unusually high number of quality big men to be plucked from the vine of free agency. I list them after the jump...

TY PtR! and Why I choose the Spurs!
Been lurking around here for the last few years, the post "why are you a Spurs fan" by Beltran42 finally forced me to create an account. Just wanted to get some words off my chest so to speak.
My replied post was dragging on a bit, so I thought making a new post would be better. Hopefully that's OK.
Now I can remember being 5 or 6 years old, and seeing this highlight, there was this guy (at the time it looked like a giant) rising up and slamming the ball down for a major dunk (I remember the other guys wearing purple, maybe it was against the Suns or Lakers). I remember his black jersey shining from all the flash photography, I also remember him wearing the number 50.

In Loving Memory of Bruce Bowen...
Funny. He never led the team in scoring, rebounding, or assists. He's one of few men who can pull off a bow tie. And he appears to be irreplaceable in this league. I've been searching through rosters for the next BB, and I'm sorry, but Tayshaun Prince/Shane Battier/Tony Allen/Metta World Peace he ain't.
Tumbleweeds, Tailfeathers, and Timmy!
Howdy, Pounders! So great to talk to y'all crazy people again. It has been a whirlwind of a week for me and the Mrs, but at long last we are back "home" sweet "home," and ready to tell you all the sordid little details (no, not THOSE kind of details, you sickos) of our brief jailbreak from the plains of Oklahoma to the relative oasis of the Alamo City. Lend me your ears after the jump..........

Observations, notes and one irrelevant player comparison
Considering I wasn't able to write a cohesive article following the Rockets and Hornets game, I thought would go the lazy sportswriter route with a simple, yet hopefully effective, notes and observations piece. We'll see.
(Disclaimer: Keep in mind, I realize I'm relying on small sample sizes and these "trends" could mean absolutely nothing.)
