Dear Mr. Lacob....

Dear Mr. Lacob,

Recently, I was surprised to hear your comments that the Warriors were "light-years ahead" of other NBA teams and that the Spurs "are old."

The Golden State Warriors are a wonderful team and it is amazing what your management has accomplished. But please, with all due apologies, I don't agree that you and your staff are "light-years" ahead. Stephen Curry was a lottery pick. Klay Thompson was a lottery pick. Harrison Barnes was a lottery pick. Andrew Bogut (albeit traded to your organization) was a lottery pick. Kudos on the excellent selection of Draymond Green, but 4/5ths of your starting 5 are lottery picks. Also as we both know, to be able to draft lottery picks, you must not make the playoffs.

Please don't get me wrong. Our Tim Duncan was a lottery pick. But our management doesn't go around making statements how we are "light-years' ahead of other teams or mock other teams by calling them old. I don't recall RC Buford or Peter Holt making statements diminishing other teams. Tony Parker was a late first round pick, Manu Ginobili was one of the later picks of the second round, and Kawhi Leonard was a non-lottery pick. Danny Green was a D-League player, Patty Mills was a undrafted free agent, and Boris Diaw was on the waivers.

Our management has been able to make all these selections, all while already being Championship contenders. Not while having losing seasons and being awarded lottery picks. If you want to find a management that is "light-years ahead", look no further than San Antonio, Texas. And the most beautiful thing is this: our management does not need to make statements boasting that we are ahead of everyone, because the reality is this: the Spurs' record, the decades long 50+ win seasons, the 5 championships in the past 18 years, the consistent winning seasons..... that Mr. Lacob, does all the talking.

Best of luck. And for the record, your Warriors are 1-2 since your comments!
