Can Aldridge be the Face of the Spurs for the Future?

Just want to share my latest piece... and hear your thoughts as well.

Over the past few seasons, the mercurial Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has raved much about 2014 NBA Finals MVP and reigning Defensive Player of the Year awardee Kawhi Leonard’s great potential and vast improvements so much so that he has declared as early as 2012 that ‘The Klaw’ will be the ‘Face of the Spurs.’ Even the legendary trio of Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan has repeatedly acknowledged that this is Kawhi’s team now, seeing to it that he gets enough touches and scoring opportunities on the offensive side of the court.

Now that the Spurs have acquired prolific big man LaMarcus Aldridge via free agency, is Kawhi still going to be the face of the Spurs franchise? Aldridge, already a well-established franchise cornerstone back in Portland, upon his arrival in San Antonio easily becomes the team’s primary scoring option. Kawhi, on the other hand, is still struggling with his identity, especially when a supposedly over-the-hill, should-be-retired, and ageless wonder Tim Duncan arguably was still the best Spur this past season.
