FEARLESS FORECAST: SPURS VS SUNS

The Spurs massacred this team towards the end of last season. Kawhi would likely be on Bledsoe, Green on Knight, Parker on Tucker. Duncan can take Chandler easily on the post offensively and defensively. West can match up well with Morris.
Phoenix is not a very good rebounding team, especially when they play small ball with Telenovic or Lauer who both like to shoot 3's. They do not move the ball very well, relying on one on one plays for Bledsoe or Knight, and drive and kick outs for Tucker. They run a lot of screen and rolls for their guards driving to the hoop. Spurs will play them on their left towards the help defense of Duncan or West at the rim. Kawhi and Green should be able to limit Bledsoe and Knight by about 30% off their average. Phoenix is not a very good defensive team. They would have a hard time matching up with Kawhi or Aldridge (if he plays), and they do not have the defensive skills as a team to contain the ball movement of the Spurs. Look for Duncan to dominate their small power forwards and for Kawhi to post up Bledsoe or Tucker.

The pace of Phoenix is overblown. They have to qucken the pace and increase their number of possessions because they are atrocious on the defensive and offensive rebounds. Its downside also is that it increases the number of turnovers. However, San Antonio has to be conscious of the Suns' 3-point ability. The team is designed for a lot of guard play and 3 point shooting (a la Warriors).

Provided San Antonio's shooting does not deteriorate to the levels it was in New Orleans Saturday, Spurs should win by at least 10.
