The next matchup in the 1-on-1 Summer Showdown is between a complete point guard, and an electric shooting guard.
The Rules
It is a half-court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc and 2 points for everything outside the arc, so long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney. The higher seed starts off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.
Chris Paul (3rd Seed)
CP3 is an elite player, but in my opinion, this format hurts his game. Paul thrives off being able to distribute the ball and direct his team. If he isn't shooting well, he can dump it down to one of his guys and still put up a double-double. He can hide himself. In this format, he cannot hide himself.
Paul isn't the best scorer. His jump-shooting can be streaky, and he isn't particularly skilled from beyond the arc. The scary thing about his game is that he can get hot very quickly. The heat-check players are always a threat.
Manu Ginobili (6th Seed)
Manu is a ferocious player. He is the ultimate heat-check player, but he also has a consistency to his game that legitimizes his position as a No. 6 seed. Manu has an awesome ability to hit crazy shots and finish at the rim. He has a dynamic offensive game, and he has sharpened up his 3-point shot in the latter stages of his career.
Where I am worried is how much quicker Paul is. Chris Paul is an excellent defender, and he may be able to shut Manu down. This is going to be a close one.
