Donald Sterling insists that Patty Mills and Tony Parker use pretend accents (Fake News)

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Fake News for your Friday afternoon.

After the Clippers lost their second-round series to the Thunder, former owner Donald Sterling was asked how he saw the Western Conference Finals between the Thunder and the Spurs shaping up.

"Well certainly I'd like to see the Thunder win since they beat us.  That way we can always look back and say we were just caught in the path of the tornado."

As the reporter started to ask another question Sterling plowed on.

"Plus the Spurs are so fake, you know?  They got those guys, Parker and what's-his-name...Mills, always using those phony accents and putting on airs.  Like that makes them worldly or classy or something."

Informed that Parker is from France and Mills from Australia, and that their accents are real, Sterling scoffed.  "That doesn't make a lick of sense.  Duncan is supposed to be from the Virgin Islands, how come he doesn't have a Virgin Island accent?"

Asked why he thought Parker and Mills would fake an accent Sterling said, "How do I know?  It's all mind games with them."  He then added, conspiratorially, that he wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that Magic Johnson had something to do with it.
