Game 4 Links: Spurs at Trail Blazers

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

The Spurs couldn't make it five in a row and the Portland Trail Blazers took Game Four. For the first time since the playoffs started, Spurs fans are not panicking over a loss.

Playoff Bracket:  Four games into the second round and the Spurs are sitting at 3-1.  The Thunder and Clippers are now playing a best of three series, and Miami and Indiana are also enjoying a 3-1 advantage in their series' like the Spurs.

Our friend Dave Deckard of Blazer's Edge knows, "This victory, however nice, did not allow them the luxury of thinking in terms of a series again."

Rob Mahoney of Sports Illustrated notes that the Blazers extended their season with a surge of offense.

Brandon Goldner of Rip City Project thinks the key to the game was containing Tony Parker.

Ben Golliver of Blazer's Edge calls Will Barton audacious in his take on the game.

Our buddies at 48 Minutes of Hell have a couple of pieces up. El Conclusion's grades sees Trevor Zickgraf hand out no A, and he's right. Matthew Tynan notes that San Antonio had a historically bad shooting night: Dating back to the 1985-86 season (as far back as Basketball-Reference can take us with these statistics), San Antonio had never combined to shoot worse from the 3-point arc (3-of-18) and free-throw line (11-of-19) on as many attempts as it did Monday.

Louisa Thomas has a feature about the Spurs up on Grantland. You should read it.

Our very own Michael Erler wonders if watching the game with a certain someone causes the basketball gods to smite him in his latest from Stampland.

Also from Pounding the Rock: Jesus Gomez (EDG5) noted in his recap that "Nicolas Batum must simultaneously be one of the most frustrating players to root for and one of the most fun."

Up Next: The Spurs will try to close this thing out on Wednesday night in San Antonio, 8:30 Spurs Time, on TNT.
