4 Reasons Why The Spurs Will Win Game 4

This series has been terrible for the Spurs so far. Dallas has outplayed the good guys, playing with more hustle and better defense. If not for a major breakdown at the end of the first game, the Mavs could have been up 3-0.

Still, there are a myriad of reasons to believe that the Spurs will win Game 4 (and the series as well, but let's take it one game at a time). With the relatively recent interest in analytics, I have peppered this post with numbers to back up my claims, so be warned that some of these might be too technical for the common fan.

Sure, the Spurs have been playing terribly lately, and the Mavs have been playing well. Sure, Game 4 will be in Dallas, and the odds and momentum is probably with them, but I can give you numbers-backed reasons why the Spurs will win Game 4.

1. Because if they don't, I'm going to cry.

The last time I cried in public over a basketball game was in 2006. That foul on Dirk. The overtime period. It was just too much for me.

By the numbers: That was 8 years ago. Which is like two 4s. Or 4 twos. 4 is 50% of eight. There are four quarters in a basketball game.

2. Because I don't like Jason Terry.

I don't care if he doesn't play for the Mavs anymore. Just like I don't care if Rick Fox doesn't play for the Lakers anymore. I don't hate them and their teams any less.

By the numbers: "Mavs" has 4 letters. So does "Rick." And "Lake." See?

3. Because I want them to.

The Spurs have never lost a game that I watched from beginning to end. I especially want the Spurs to win, so I am going to watch game 4 from start to finish.

By the numbers: So Spurs are 100% when I see the tip and hear the buzzer. (Full disclosure: There were times when the Spurs were down big, and I turned the video off with a few seconds left in the game. Still, the numbers don't lie. 100% baby!)

4. Because I love chocolate.

Yeah, I love chocolate, which can only mean one thing: The Spurs will win game 4.

By the numbers: I am 100% sure that my birthday is in March. My sister's birthday is March 4. I don't like nuts in my chocolate. Well, maybe except hazelnuts. And macadamia nuts. "Nuts" has 4 letters too.

Believe, Spurs fans. Deep inside, you know the Spurs can do this. If you don't trust what your hearts are telling you, then believe the stats I gave you. Numbers don't lie.
