Not that Pop "publicly" cares, but this is a GREAT recognition for all the hard work done by Pop this year. In a Season that began w/ tons of injuries, Pop has coached as well as anyone in the league w/ a combination team balance, roster maintenance, in-game strategy and big-picture logic that has gone unmatched.
Jeff Hornacek may have done more with less in Phoenix, but the artfulness in which Coach Pop guided the team through several and VERY different situations deserves the specific praise. In the regular Season, no single player averaged more than 30 minutes per game. That's Amazine!
And as if that were not enough, the Spurs ended w/ the best record in the League and are in a privileged position in order to achieve the main goal of all the efforts made by the team during this long season, and that is to win the Championship!
Congrats in advance Pop!!!
