Marco Belinelli chosen to compete in the three point contest

Following in the footsteps of Matt Bonner, Marco will go to New Orleans to represent the Spurs on ASW.

So Tim Duncan might not be going to New Orleans for All Star Weekend, but Marco Belinelli will.

From the Spurs recent press release:

SPURS GUARD MARCO BELINELLI SELECTED TO PARTCIPATE IN
2014 FOOT LOCKER THREE-POINT CONTEST

NEW YORK, Feb. 6, 2014 - The NBA today announced that Spurs guard Marco Belinelli has been selected to participate in the 2014 Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans as part of State Farm NBA All-Star Saturday Night. This is the second consecutive year the Spurs have had a participant in the Three-Point Contest with Matt Bonner advancing to the final round in last year's competition.

Belinelli, in his first year with the Spurs, is shooting a career-best 44.3 (74-167) percent from three point range through 49 games which ranks fourth in the NBA. The 6-5 Italian has shot .500 or better from three-point range in 22 games this season including five games in which he has made all of his attempts (minimum 2, 4-4 at ORL on 11/29) and has recorded two games with 5-or-more three pointers made (6 vs. NYK on 1/2/14 and 5 vs. OKC on 12/21). For his career, Belinelli is shooting 39.4 (522-1,326) percent from beyond the arc.

Belinelli becomes the seventh Spur to compete in the Three-Point Shootout joining Bonner (2013), Roger Mason, Jr. (2009), Steve Smith (2002), Terry Porter (2000), Chuck Person (1995) and Dale Ellis (1994).

State Farm All-Star Saturday Night will be exclusively televised on TNT. The event also will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio and will collectively reach fans in 215 countries and territories in more than 47 languages.
