Tony's resting after playing 11 minutes in the ASG and – *update* – struggling with "a variety of maladies", while Tiago and Kawhi are officially listed as "doubtful", but, on the bright side, the Spurs will likely see their favorite Argentinian return to action as they take the Rodeo Road Trip to the west coast Tuesday night.
Here's the press release from the Spurs:
Manu Ginobili (strained left hamstring) is probable for tonight's game at the LA Clippers. Ginobili has missed the past eight games since suffering the injury Jan. 28 at Houston.
Additionally, Tony Parker (rest) is listed as out for tonight's game. Tiago Splitter (right calf contusion) and Kawhi Leonard (non-displaced fracture of the fourth metacarpal; right hand) are both listed as doubtful.
Manu sustained his injury on an impressive dunk against the Rockets three weeks ago. It's expected that he'll be eased back into things with limited minutes tonight:
Per Popovich: Parker out; Ginobili limited min.; Splitter, Leonard game time decision vs. Clips— Mike Monroe (@Monroe_SA) February 18, 2014
And while we're at it, here are a few more tweets from Mike Monroe about tonight's game:
Popovich will watch Splitter and Leonard in #Spurs pre-game warmup before deciding if they suit up vs. Clips— Mike Monroe (@Monroe_SA) February 18, 2014
Here's the deal on @tonyparker: Popovich shutting him down til he's 100 pct because 'he's been playing at '60 to 70 pct."— Mike Monroe (@Monroe_SA) February 18, 2014
The Clippers won't be at full strength either, as they'll be without J.J. Redick (back) once again, but this could be a tough win for San Antonio to pull out as they swing back into things after the All-Star break. However, if Marco Belinelli can go 18 for 25 from downtown again, they just might have a shot.
We'll keep you updated as soon as possible if/when more news breaks on Tony's status.
