All-star break from basketball is upon us, but there are still some strange events remotely reminding a basketball game and showing on TNT tonight. It also happened that I have nothing better to do than to watch it. Why not to watch it with fellow spurfans at PtR? - I asked myself. Of course, the natural answer is that not many spurfans pay much attention to the all-star game. And there is no game thread, at least so far. Oh, well, this is something that I can change single-handedly, or rather, double-handedly. Here is an attempt to post such a thread, enjoy it if you can.
As we all know, there is no Tim Duncan in New Orleans this year. While most of his peers, future Hall-of-Famers, were selected as starters (Kobe after only playing 6 games or so), Timmy got snubbed. It may be for the better in a short term, as it will provide Timmy with extra motivation and also give him some necessary rest. Still, it's hard to not feel bad that Tim Duncan will have one less all-star selection in his career, during the season when he was a worthy candidate.
On the other hand, Tony Parker who was missing in recent games, made a trip to New Orleans. There was some interesting discussion recently about Spurs' Mount Rushmore. Well, the fact that Tony would rather play in the all-star game after sitting out regular season games and struggling with his health, to me disqualifies him as a SMR candidate, or at the very least puts him firmly behind Manu Ginobili. Sorry, Tony, but I am disappointed, though not totally surprised.
I would love however to hear opinions of other spurfans about these and other developments.
Here is the question of the night:
