Hey, that reminds me of the time Stuart Scott called me

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

That's my new favorite sentence.

I use it at lunch with clients, or at home with my kids, or when I'm trying to avoid making my wife angry because I didn't take out the trash.

SportsCenter anchor, and ESPN icon Stuart Scott called me at home late Wednesday night because he was mad at me.

Some background:

For those of you that may not know, I'm a lifelong Red Raider. I know, it's pretty difficult to discern given my screen name, but that's who I am.

Last Saturday night, Texas Tech upset Oklahoma State in an exciting college basketball game, but that wasn't the juice. The story was Marcus Smart shoving an out of control Tech fan.

So I wrote a story about it.

In the story, I included several tweets from ESPN's own Stuart Scott.

And to make a long story short, Stuart Scott read the article and disagreed with me.

So of course I agreed to speak with him.

The phone call wasn't pleasant in the beginning. He was very upset but I think I stood my ground.

You can read the entire recap here but the end result was that we agreed to disagree on a few topics and found common ground on many others.

The lesson learned? If you have someone that you disagree with, talk to them.

It makes a difference.

He sent this tweet yesterday.

And when he's in town to cover the Spurs in the NBA Finals, I'm taking him to dinner so we can talk about our kids.
