This game started out kind of like last nights game against the Grizzlies. The Spurs took an early lead, increased it to double digits where it bounced around during the second, saw the Mavericks cut it to five, got it back to double digits and went into the half up by seven. Tim Duncan grabbed all of the rebounds early and finished the night with 13 in 29 minutes to go along with his 16 points on eight shots.
The third quarter saw Tony Parker score 14 points on just six shots to lead the Spurs in a 37-point eruption in the quarter. Marco chipped in 13 in the second half, and Dallas could just not stop the Spurs at all as the Spurs scored 67 points in the half. And they didn't have Manu Ginobili. The Spurs did a nice job on defense against a pretty good offensive team in Dallas, holding them to just 42% from the field and winning the rebounding battle by 23.
There was no wild comeback in this one, the Spurs closed out the Mavericks and earn their three-day break. Tim Duncan scored 40 points and grabbed 30 rebounds in his last two games. The old man veteran is timeless, still great, yada-yada, we're lucky, etc.
Nice win for the good guys on a SEGABABA without The Manu. It will be nice for the boys to get three days of rest before Minnesota comes into San Antonio for a Sunday night contest.
