Spurs double up Clippers in the first half: 70-35

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

In their first appearance after the embarrassing loss to the New York Knicks on Thursday, the Spurs are hitting on all cylinders in the first two quarters in San Antonio against the Clippers.

I don't know what Pop said to the Spurs after they dropped their first game of the season to a team with a losing record, but whatever motivational techniques he used after Thursday's defeat at the hands of the Knicks should go into the vault for future use.

Yes, Chris Paul is out of the game after separating his shoulder in Dallas against the Mavericks on Friday, but that doesn't explain everything that's going on against the Clippers in San Antonio tonight. Los Angeles looks discombobulated, and everything the Spurs are doing is working.

San Antonio is shooting over 60%, has outrebounded LA 29-12, out-assisted them 21-9, turned them over 9-5. Tiago Splitter has a game-high 15 points, Manu Ginobili has 13, and Parker and Duncan have 12 each in the one-sided half that saw the Spurs highest 1st half total of the season. LA's leading scorer is Blake Griffin with 10 on 4-7 shooting, and Darren Collison has 9 on 4-6 shooting, which would be fine if they weren't the only Clippers who played the first half with hunger.
