Manu's column of Game 1

It's hard to get some rest after a night like this. The game started late, and it went to double overtime which is unusual. I got home at 1:30 AM to eat, because after the press conference I was unable to eat at the stadium. After such a game it's not easy to calm down. It takes a few hours to come back down, to return to normal after all that stress ... By the time you relax, it's late. I went to sleep around four.

I imagine I will be asked, so let me make it clear now that Pop did not come to make me breakfast at my home. And it's not true what he said about him not having coached me for a long time. If he has to talk shit to me about something, he does it, of course.

As far as the three point play at the end, I cannot add much. I had to screen and get away. That play was not set for me but for Tony or Boris. There was a moment of confusion, I got open so I waved to Kawhi. When it went in it was awesome, but it could have missed and it would have been unbearable. The important thing is that we avoided the sad faces at the end. Imagine, if after all that huge effort we would have lost the game! It would have been a huge blow mentally.

Other than that three pointer that went in, it was a very poor shooting night for me. And I finished very tired. It was a draining game for all of us, and no doubt for them as well, because Stephen Curry ended up playing 58 minutes. As for myself, this last month and a half since I got hurt I had never played more than 20 minutes, and against Golden State I played 36. I was dead. Physically and mentally it was a game that wore me out.

Today I had to meet the press, but after that we did nothing but stretching, massage and regenerative work. There was no way we could practice. Then nap and try to recover, that's all. Today we'll get together and see how we are doing. Because if there is any conclusion to be drawn from the first game is that they were superior. They played better than we did both offensively and defensively. They defended us well and we just had a good run in the fourth quarter. It is clear that we need to watch video to study what happened and start making adjustments.

It's possible that once the series stretches, talking about games 5, 6 or 7 if necessary, this preparation won't be as necessary, but for now we must do it.

And I don't say it only for Curry. But against him we tried everything we could. Kawhi Leonard did a good job, but he still got his points, so at times we tried with Boris, to put someone taller in front of him. The truth is when he gets in a hot streak it's very difficult and there's not much you can do. He can shoot from long distance and it's hard to stop him. What he did in the third quarter was amazing.

I'm sure we'll try some different things, but we haven't talked about it yet. The good thing is that, whatever we have to do, we have the joy of having won the first game, a very difficult and important game.
