So here we are, 20 days until the Playoffs and owners of the first seed in the West. So far, so good. Tonight we're going to face the OKC Thunder, N°2 in the West and considered by many people as the main candidate to reach the NBA Finals this year.
We've been struggling last games, but that doesn't worry (too much). There's something else that really worries me: hunger.
And I'm not talking about food, I'm talking about desire, about victory, about glory. That kind of hunger, the same one that we've always had.
But of course, we're not the only ones with that kind of hunger. There are 29 more teams who want the same thing: Win it all. 15 of those teams are going to be in the Playoffs in April. 7 of those are going to fight against us in the Western Conference, trying to get their spot in the NBA Finals.
And they are hungry, no question about it. They want the glory. OKC is trying to show the world that they can beat Miami. Clippers, Memphis and Denver want to show the world they're the best. Kobe and the Lakers want one more title, just like us.
Now this is the moment when the big question arises: are we hungrier than them?
We MUST be hungrier than them if we want to face Miami or whoever comes from the East. Of course, the refs, Stern, the other teams' players, everybody will try to avoid us to win it all. But in the end, it comes to hunger, to want it more than the other team.
So the question stays: are we hungrier than the rest of the West? That's how we have to be if we want to be in the Finals, hungrier than them, we must want it more, we must desire it.
If we can achieve that, be sure we will be in the Finals.
Are you hungry?
