1st Argentinian Pounders Meeting - BETRAYED BY JESUS

Hello Pounders!

As some of you might remember, on December 21st (when the Spurs lost against OKC... yeah, that game) some Pounders here in Argentina decided to get together in order to meet each other, and watch the game instead of being alone in our respective homes, not being able to share the emotion of such a big game.

So, even though we tried to make all the arrangements a month ago, in the end we could only confirm the place and time the meeting was going to happen the day before of the event.

When the negotiations began, we were supposed to be six Pounders, but as the date of the meeting was getting closer, two of them had to abandon the ship, including one of the writers here at Pounding the Rock: J. Gomez. Jesus betrayed us, but we are sure he will join us next time.

One of the Pounders (ferscia) offered his house as a safe place for the meeting and watching the game (although his wife didn't know that it was the first time we were going to meet each other and none of us really knew him).

Before the game, we decided to meet at Kentucky's, one of the best pizza places in Buenos Aires.

Of course, this place was a couple of blocks away from Ferscia's house, so it was perfect for the meeting, as we could then walk to his place.

Ferscia and I were the only two there, as the other two Pounders couldn't arrive on time.

I have to admit that I was a bit nervous because I had no idea what kind of people I was going to meet there. Of course, people around this blog share a love for all things Spurs-related, but that's doesn't mean you'll get along with people you've just met for the first time in your whole life.

Fortunately, Ferscia is a great guy and we had no problem at all, talking mostly about the Spurs and the NBA in general (also, the pizza there is GREAT, seriously).

At 10:00 we received a message from the 3rd Pounder, Juan Korl, who said he was late, but coming to Ferscia's house, so we had to leave Kentucky's in that moment.

After we arrived at Ferscia's apartment, the last Pounder made his appearance: David, A.K.A LatinD.

Finally, all the Pounders were in the same place. The 1st Argentinian Pounders Meeting in history had begun.

I'm not going to write about the game itself. We all know what happened and I really don't want to go over it again.

But, apart from the final result, it was a great experience. For the first time in my life, I could share my feelings about a Spurs game with people who really cared about it as much as I did.

We could all scream, complain, be surprised, celebrate a 3-pointer from Bellinelli. We all wanted to kill Danny Green for that stupid full-court pass that ended up in a turnover. We suffered Jackson's and Westbrook 's jumpers, but we did it together.

It was interesting, but not surprising, to realize that all of us were drawn to the Spurs because of Manu Ginobili. We also learned how each of us came to find this great place, and got to know a bit about each other's personal lives.

Of course, we're planning to repeat this meeting next year, and hopefully more Pounders will join us.

I hope next time the Spurs will reward us with a victory.

See you around!

Keep pounding the rock.

Happy holidays!!!
