The Spurs did not start this game well. The defense was bad, the offense was bad, and the energy was bad. The Spurs found themselves down 23 with four minutes left in the second quarter, but Tony Parker led the team to a nice run and the Spurs cut the lead to 11 at the half.
The Rockets were able to extend their lead to 18 with 7:43 left in the third, but the Spurs kept battling and at the end of the third the Good Guys only trailed by three. Tony stepped up his game again, the threes started to fall, and the Spurs entered the final period ready to compete. Manu Ginobili continues to look rejuvenated, and he made several great plays during the comeback. Oh, and in the middle of all of that Manu found Tim Duncan for ANOTHER alley-oop!
In the end the Good Guys didn't pull this one out. They took the lead, but down the stretch the Rockets were helped by an atrocious foul call where Dwight Howard was being intentionally fouled, but the refs decided that James Harden drew the foul on a three point attempt. Harden was not touched, and the foul on Dwight was clearly before the shot anyway. Bummer.
I'll leave you this, the first nutmeg for a score of the season for Manu Ginobili. I'm upset after this one, but this makes me feel just a tiny bit better, a very tiny bit.
Your Spurs fall to 14-3 for the season.
