I'm pretty confident this post won't be completely welcomed by the SA Spurs community, but it just must be said. Being a HUGE Spur fan for as long as I can remember, I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly....but these 2 guys are horrendous. The only thing Baynes has going for him is strength/size...he's a lot to handle for most NBA big men. The 2 blown dunks he flubbed off nice offensive rebounds vs. Golden State the other night made me a firm believer that Baynes has got to go. Pop's post-game comments about Baynes after the GS game proved even he has his doubts about the NewZealander. Now, on to Ayers. I've seen him in limited minute roles this season (and even during the pre-season), and he just looks scared out there. He doesn't seem to flow well with the other 4 on the court, he can't shoot (like at all), and he's not skilled around the rim even though he's a nice Spur 6'9". I sort of feel like he's a decent D-Leaguer that got thrown into the lions cage and has the deer-in-the-headlights look.
Granted its early, and Baynes/Ayers have plenty of time to prove themselves this season if Pop decides he can tolerate them, but I think the squad is better off with these two NEVER seeing the hardwood again until next pre-season. It's called addition by subtraction I think.
Long live the Spurs. Sorry to offend any Baynes/Ayers lovers out there in cyberSpurspace.
