"We are thrilled to have Danny returning to San Antonio," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. "It was a pleasure watching Danny grow and develop this past season. We think he will only continue to mature and get better, and we’re happy that this will be happening with the San Antonio Spurs."
Green, who was signed by the Spurs as a free agent on March 6, 2011 from the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Development League, appeared in all 66 games during the 2011-12 season, averaging 9.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 23.1 minutes. The former North Carolina Tar Heel shot .442 (211-477) from the floor, .436 (102-234) from behind the arc and .790 (79-100) from the free throw line. Green scored in double figures in 25 games and posted 20-or-more points in four contests, including a career-high 24 points against Denver on Jan. 7.
In the 2012 NBA Playoffs, Green appeared in 14 games (12 starts) for the Spurs and averaged 7.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 20.6 minutes.
Since being drafted with the 46th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Green has appeared in 94 career NBA games, averaging 7.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 18.4 minutes. For his career he is shooting .441 (243-551) from the floor, .418 (115-275) from three-point range and .783 (83-106) from the charity stripe.
