One thing I think really works in SA's favor is their ability to increase the minutes of their star players in the playoffs. No other team (that SA is likely to play) has the same margins for minute increases that the Spurs have. Surprisingly though, the Jazz come closest.
I've linked a spreadsheet below that shows the top 6 players on each team as sorted by minutes/game (source: HoopData). Based on that, getting out of the West seems easier than I would have thought. For instance, Memphis is heavily reliant on it's top 6 and OKC can't increase Durant & Westbrook's minutes much more.
