I liked our trashing Atlanta and a difficult win @Orlando. Beating Dallas was sweet, but they didn’t look good at all, so it felt like they lost it more than we won it. If we scored 1 more point @Dallas, it would be our best win.

I know he is from your homeland, but it looked to me like he aimed that ball directly at Loves crotch. ( I am sure Scola probably is a great guy, by the same token, Love appears to be a good guy as well)

Who knows, maybe Scola was himself provoked. I am not questioning anyones stand-upness here, just making a comment on observation. To be fare, I would be extremely pissed off if someone slung a ball at my jewels, whether it was intentional or not.

Yes, he is from my country. I have seen him play for many, many years, ever since he was basically a kid. He never got into a fight, never hurt anyone. I don’t even remember seeing a flagrant from him. He’s not perfect, but he’s definitely not someone that would aim a shot at another player’s ball.

The two choices are: a) he tried to hit Love somewhere in his body, to bounce the ball off court and get it back, and missed; b) he deliberately tried to hurt Love. I am completely certain that a) is right – just as I would be if Manu was in the same situation.

I might be pissed if someone slug a ball at my jewels. I would not step on his face. Duncan would not step on his face. Manu would not step on his face.

I don’t know why you think I’m mad, or agitated, or whatever. You read too much into my mild “what the heck”. I was just giving you arguments as to why I didn’t think Scola “had it coming”. And then I explained that your justification as to why Love would have a reason to do that was fundamentally flawed. But I’m not mad.

Laker fans have been screaming for their GM to do something, but what is he supposed to do? Getting past the Lakers big 3, the rest of the roster can’t be moved. The 3 MoHeatos are surrounded by Mike Miller, Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, Shane Battier, and Norris Cole. Derek Fisher is no Chalmers, Troy Murphy is no Miller, “Metta World Peace” is no Haslem, Matt Barnes is no Battier, and Darius Morris is no Cole.

by alamobro on Feb 5, 2012 4:04 AM CST up reply actions

if you correlate between The top 5 in the west and Top 5 in the east
WEST
1 Thunder = 95.13 Points Allowed thanks to us Rank 14
2 Clippers = 96.95 Rank 24
3 Spurs = Rank 13th Points Allowed 93.92
4 Denver = 99.33 Rank Rank 26
5 Utah = 96.77 Rank 23
*So Right now, if we talk about the TOP 5 in the west we are the best defensive team

EAST
1 Bulls = 88.50 Points Allowed Rank 3
2 Miami = 95.83 Points Allowed Rank 18
3 Sixers = 86.50 Rank 1
4 Pacers = 90.74 Rank 4
5 Hawks = 91.13 Rank 8

by cuentaluis1 on Feb 5, 2012 4:17 AM CST up reply actions   1 recs

If you were to look at the worst offensive teams, a number of them are in the East and have been the opponents of the top defensive teams it the East. At this point it’s questionable as to whether some of teams at the top on defense are only there because they’ve played so many bad offensive teams. Orlando for instance has only the 8th ranked offense with an average of 92.17 points, and they scored only 83 in their game against the Spurs. Orlando’s played Indiana 3 times twice scoring 85 and once scoring 102. They scored 83 against the Bulls and only 69 against Philadelphia. The Spurs have had about 4 games against the bottom 12 offensive teams, whereas Philly has had about 12 games against them.

by Alamo on Feb 5, 2012 7:39 AM CST up reply actions

I tend to also take point differential into consideration. A team like the Thunder may give up 95, but they score 100, one of the top three offenses in the league, so they are still +5 against their opponents.

Also, if you look at opponent’s shooting percentage, the Spurs are not where they want to be, although they are slowly getting better. We are still in the bottom third of the league in that category.

(Full disclaimer: I hate everyone.) -- Fred Silva and JRW

by quincyscott on Feb 5, 2012 10:26 AM CST up reply actions

It’s easier to build up a nice point differential when you’re playing against weak opponents than it is when you’re playing against the better teams in the league. Things tend to even out more when you get deep into the schedule. Let’s see if the Spurs point differential changes much after playing Detroit, Toronto and New Jersey.
