Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Chase Budinger, Paul George, Derrick Wiliams and Jeremy Evans? MJ and Dominique are shaking their heads.

There is no incentive for the stars to participate. The monetary award sucks; I can't even find how much it is but I think it's around $25,000.

They need to get a real sponsor to give away a sweet ride that players will want. A Kia is not going to do the trick. Something needs to be done to produce a worthy incentive that will attract the stars.

These borderline contributors are not going to get it done for me. The commentators are going to be infinitely more famous than the contestants. Sucks.

I’d rather have the lesser known guys because then the NBA hypes the big guys too much. See Blake from last year, who shouldn’t have won.

I agree…. the worst one was Dwight though, that wasn’t even a dunk he pegged the ball into the ring

I think y’all are such huge Spurs fans that it’s negatively tainted your view of the NBA and basketball in general. Lebron, Dwight, Wade and Blake or Some dude, What’s his name, bad rookie, and another dude all from teams that suck. If you don’t want to see the stars, you should skip the all star game weekend.

It’s not that I don’t want to see the stars, but they shouldn’t win unfairly. I feel like the Griffin contest was pretty much slanted to make sure he won at all costs. That bugs me. I have nothing against stars in it.

But a guy like DeRozen definitely got shafted last year. He had some solid dunks.

Yep. He had that one.

Don’t get me started on the throw in SHOTS’S or as some call them dunks. SMH

Amen!!

I don’t care who is in the dunk contest to be honest. I just want to see people who do something creative and maybe new. I think LeBron wouldn’t be that great at the dunk contest because I’ve never really seen him do any type of cool dunk on a break away or blow out game. I think people don’t realize you don’t have to be a star to be creative and athletically gifted enough to win the dunk contest

James White, Gerald Green!

You forgot to mention that fan voting will be the sole determinant on who wins. So even if, say, Chase Budinger does the worst dunks, he could still win it if he programs a thousand spam bots to keep on voting for him.

fans only dunk for the finalist. So they don’t control who gets to the finals.

Didn’t they just make it one round, 3 dunks per contestant? No more final round or any of that stuff.

Oh, i didn’t realize they changed it again. I’m ok with that I guess. Shorter is better. Usually there’s only like 1-2 good dunks per contestant. Honestly, I’m fine with one round, but having more than 4 is ok then.

I like the one round better. That way, everyone will have to unleash their best dunks from the get-go, instead of saving them in the later rounds only to find out they didn’t qualify.

The solution is the same, year after year. Set up a street dunker against a D-League dunker against an NBA dunker. Then they’d care.

Everybody’s been proposing this. But Stern doesn’t want to embarrass his pros.

F-that, just invite the D-League guys. Technically they can be NBA guys. No one really cares about the dunk contest much anyway. Might as well…

I’m only watching this because of Paul George.

Paul George can jump out the gym and Budinger might surprise some folks because he can jump out the gym also

I’m only ok with Spurs not somehow getting George because they got Leonard. Thank goodness! Man, George is already looking like he’s going to be a beast.

Yeah George is coming along nicely. He still has a ways to go but you can see that the guy has potential to be a really good player and if he keeps working on his game

Granger is almost expendable, if they can make the right deal.

I think we should get Birdman involved. Him missing 25 dunks in a row with JR Smith making awful passes would be the highlight of the 2012 dunk contest.

Yet Nate Robinson still won after bricking so many dunks. AI2 was robbed that year.
