Blair had a good game tonight I thought.

Both teams played hard

by Kondor on Feb 18, 2012 5:48 PM CST up reply actions

He was -20 at one point. He ended at -17. He got some easy baskets, but good things didn’t really happen when he was in. That’s why Pop went to RJ and Leonard at the 4 over Blair. It’s a reason why he only played 16:48 in an OT game. And that’s without Splitter playing more than 5 minutes. Duncan played 41 min. Bonner played 35 min

Spurs did better against Blake with Bonner than with Blair, for example.

Yes, he did those, but just about everyone on the team can find the open man. The team is so much more effective with him off the court, for just about every game. His on/off court numbers are worse this year than it was last year.

Spurs did better against Blake with Bonner than with Blair, for example.

Well, Bonner is the +/- king. He is playing really well recently, and look at our wining streak. I always think that good Bonner = wins for our team.

Both teams played hard

by Kondor on Feb 18, 2012 6:14 PM CST up reply actions

I wasn’t even looking at Bonner’s +/-, but just watching the game, even though he’s not a solid one-on-one defender, he doesn’t do stupid things, so when the team comes with a hard double or triple team, he doesn’t foul and kill off the play. He also boxes out. My gosh, he boxed out Blake on an important rebound. I know if that was Blair, that would be a rebound for Blake or Blair would have fouled him.

The list is outdated. I think Elson signed with the 76ers and Dampier with the Hawks. A number of players like Dorsey are playing overseas this year. Ike may be available, and I think Bobby Simmons is playing in the DLeague, but I don’t think it would help to sign either one. Malcolm Thomas might be worth bringing back, and the Toros two 6’9" forwards are also having good seasons.

Pop indicated that he’d likely play some more small ball for a few games, which might be all that Tiago misses if he misses any games.

by Alamo on Feb 18, 2012 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

A logical starting place, I just happened to have looked at pretty much the same list earlier this week and discovered most of the more interesting names already looked committed. Dorsey is playing with the Greek team Olympiacos, Ajinca for Strasbourg,Armstrong for Asvel and Darnell Jackson for Donetsk. Leon Powe may be available, but may not have fully recovered from ACL surgery. Many of the others are hanger-ons. On the other hand, Malcolm Thomas in his last 3 dleague games has played 94 minutes and scored 45 points on 21-28 shooting with 25 rebounds, 5 assists and 10 blocks. Bring him back and give him some minutes and you could have another Lin story.

Well that was immensely enjoyable…

The Clippers are a good young team and beating them on their homecourt in the midst of a long road trip is something to be proud of. SA kept getting in its own way, free throws readily come to mind, but I’ll take it.

And what exactly to the Clippers have to do to get a technical foul called against them? Kenyon Martin’s antics alone are a 48-minute bitchfest and guys like Griffin, Jordan, Butler and Foye were being plenty demonstrative as well. They get a lot of leeway.

Asked before the game how Parker has looked, Popovich said, "He’s still cute. "

Grading calf muscle strains

Muscle strains are graded from 1-3, with grade 1 being a minor tear, with up to 10% of fibres involved. A grade 2 tear involves up to 90% of the muscle fibres and a grade 3 is over 90% of fibres torn, or a full rupture. This usually occurs at the muscular tendinous junction or the achilles tendon itself.

Grade 1:

A twinge of pain in the back of the lower leg.
May be able to play on.
Tightness and aching in the 2-5 days after.
Grade 2

Sharp pain in the back of the lower leg.
Pain when walking.
There may be swelling in the calf.
Mild to moderate bruising.
Pain on resisted plantarflexion.
Tightness and aching for a week or more.
Grade 3

Severe immediate pain.
A sudden pain at the back of the leg, often at the muscular tendinous junction (see image below).
Inability to contract the muscle.
Considerable bruising and swelling.
In the case of a full rupture, often the muscle can be seen to be bunched up towards the top of the calf.

Do or do not! There is no try!

by Spurs Yoda on Feb 18, 2012 6:05 PM CST reply actions

by quincyscott on Feb 18, 2012 6:54 PM CST up reply actions

The big thing with Blair, is he’s so limited that his versatility doesn’t work. he can only really play with Duncan and be somewhat effective.

Although RJ is frustrating, he’s serviceable. He’s average too often, but average is enough to keep him in games. He was able to play the 4 position a bit. Obviously, for what they pay, he should do more though.

Now would RJ get time if Neal was not such a horrid defender? Probably a lot less.

He plays better with Duncan and Splitter, but he shows his improvement by not being as big a weakness. His off the dribble has improved over the past year to 2 years. he can now stop and pop or use that flip shot he has. On D, his help has been pretty solid. He boxed out Blake in a key rebounding play. That stands out a lot in my eyes.

Perhaps, but if history plays out as it has done consistently, he’ll maximize his margin and spend just as much to keep his profit as high as it is. Seriously, if Clippers were run by even Holt and company, they’d make so much money. Or if by Cuban, they’d spend a lot, but make a whole lot and win. I mean, Clippers and Lakers in LA. That would be huge.

They got lucky by drafting Blake, and then getting CP3, but we’ll see when the role players and everyone else needs to be traded.

Sorry I missed this game—sounds like I saved myself from some stress by doing so though lol. Great win! 10 in a row! Hope Manu and Tiago are ok though.

Manu got clobbered. I think Splitter just planted funny or something.

Both will sit out a few games if they are on the milder side of injuries.

Oh I almost forgot. Did anyone else see what Chris Paul did at the end of the half? Someone shot a half court shot and it hit hard off the back board to Paul. He grabbed the ball and Green was with him and Paul had an egregious flop attempt into a quick fake fight attempt versus Green. He’s such a punk ass.

He did something similar to P.Gasol

I hate him, the media love him. They have him as the MVP

He is my most disliked athlete. More than Antonio Margarito even.

This is bad news. The teams stacked perimeter showed it could get along without Manu, but Splitter has been playing really good.

Yes. Scarcity determines value like nothing else. Obviously Manu is the superior player to Tiago but I think losing Tiago will hurt the team more.

Buck Harvey @Buck_SA
Walked out with @manuginobili, and he had trouble walking. Oblique muscle hurt that much. Injured initially in Detroit. “Weird,” he said.

Too bad Pop cant force Manu to sit out until there are about 20 games left in the season. I am not kidding. This might be the last shot the Spurs have at a title for a long time.

At least Pop has depth where he can force him to sit more minutes. that said, Need to bubble wrap him.

by grego21 on Feb 18, 2012 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

This doesn’t work. Pop made him sit in the game #81 last season, and Manu still got injured at the game #82. So, your options are to sit him out for the whole season or see him getting some new kind of injury.

Both teams played hard
