Injury Update on TJ Ford
Ford coming along: Backup point guard T.J. Ford, sidelined since suffering a torn left hamstring Jan. 10 at Milwaukee, has begun light on-court conditioning work during the Spurs’ time on the road.
Ford is progressing in his rehabilitation but isn’t expected back until after the All-Star break.

TJ may find himself the odd man out after missing basically half the season. ( Especially if Neal continues playing like this)
A man gets the eye of a Tiger, but a Tiger gets the eye of a Manu.
He’s not a PG. Manu, likely will start (once in game shape) and then TJ’s position makes even more sense. TJ has veteran experience and that’ll go a long way.
This should help Pop keep Parker and Manu’s minutes down, as a 3rd ball handler would exist. Neal and Green in small amounts, is cool, but not consistently. Neal is much better with scoring on his mind than when he has to worry about both.
Winter is coming
I noticed that the trade restrictions on free agents signed like TJ will expire soon. I wouldn’t be expecting a trade, but it seems possible that if a trade were in the works that he might be someone needed to match up salaries. Has he increased his value much this year so that when his current contract expire he’d be able to get more than he’s been getting this year from the Spurs? I’d think it might be more likely that if he did wind up in a trade, he’d be waived and back with the team after 30 days.
