Watching this game I realized who Danny Green reminds me of—he’s like a modern version of Mario Elie.

I’m tempted to say start Bonner for spacing, since Kawhi is there for D and rebounding, but dude is already going to be getting too many minutes after the last 2 games. I don’t want to encourage such behavior.

Awesome game to be at! It was rocking’ during that third quarter. Totally worth the drive in from San Marcos. And I have to say, Bonner played great D.

His 2nd good game in a row. He had the team-leading +21 @Memphis with 5-9 3pt shooting.

Statistically, but I thought once he started to hit shots a few games before that, he was turning the corner. I’ve been happy with his D (relative to Bonner/Blair standards) in units with Tiago, as well.

That’s true, he started the season slowly (probably missing the training camp?), and has been much better recently. These last two games were his best two games so far. And he is a good fit for Tiago’s inside game.

Unless Pop is f-ing with me, I’d expect a lot of Tiago/Bonner in tomorrow’s game. And then small ball as the other main lineup. I have a feeling TD will sit a lot or not play at all.

Pop is 5king with everyone. I don’t know if he would dare to sit Tim again without a good reason though. Timmy has been pretty good recently, and he doesn’t like to sit out games.

The team plays with more energy starting from the 2nd half in Dallas. If I am Pop, I would try to ride the momentum and not make any drastic changes, just tweak the minutes a little. But of course Pop may do something completely different.

Last 10 games +/-

73 Bonner – King of the +/-
+48 Splitter – Well, he’s just beautfiul..
46 James Anderson – This suprised me, but this makes sense since he was part of the Dallas comeback and Houston one.
+44 Green – well this one seems to be indicating right
+26 Neal – he’s been picking it up recently as he gets his legs, and Pop finds other guys to cover for his D
+5 Parker – His score is hurt the most by all the groups he plays with.
===
Eeek…
-20 RJ – yep, he’s dropped off with some of those recent games where the starting 5 was poo
-24 Duncan – makes sense with some of the games where he just didn’t have it
====
Holy crap
-52 Leonard – the life of a rookie, especially in a super quick season. His lack of consistent shot hurts a bit as well.
-58 Blair – this is not good.

If you look at all games it isn’t much different. On a per minute basis, Manu, Bonner and Anderson look close as the team leaders with Green not far back.

There’s a reason why Leonard has seen a fluctuation in his minutes. Both he and Blair can lose a lot of minutes, especially in the 2nd half of games due to their inabilities.

Of course, our starters play against tougher opposition in general, but still our bench has been very impressive. Bonner must have been doing something right after all. May be he is hacking the computers and changing the stats?

Both teams played hard

by Kondor on Feb 2, 2012 11:29 AM CST up reply actions

Battier was wrong….Bonner is the real stastical freak, he has no imbalance whatsoever in his game — there is no one way to play him that is better than another. He is equally inefficient both off the dribble and off the pass, going left and right and from any spot on the floor.

by Chilai on Feb 2, 2012 11:44 AM CST up reply actions

Yet, the teams don’t expose him that much, except in lineups with Blair. So is the real problem Bonner or Blair?

Winter is coming

by grego21 on Feb 2, 2012 12:32 PM CST up reply actions

they are both the problem. When only one of them is on the court we can hide them. When both are playing together, disaster ensues.

my mom (who doesnt know a lick about basketball): "that guy is anything but World Peace"

by Chilai on Feb 2, 2012 4:52 PM CST up reply actions

Based on what I’ve seen recently, it seems Bonner has been hidden much better. This is why Blair plays about 8 minutes in the second half of the last 6-8 games, and also why Bonner’s /- is terrific, while Blair’s is at the bottom, in the last 10 games (73 vs. -58)
