He was solid in the games when Duncan was out last year. He just needed a chance, and he finally got one. But hey, even the coaching staff was mixed, so yeah. That hurt him a little bit.

While his stats haven’t looked good while his shot isn’t falling, Anderson still looked pretty good in his few minutes on the court. He’ll definitely be well rested for the OKC game, so if others are showing fatigue he might start looking a bit Green himself.

I don’t think pt differential is useful yet. I think there are too few games, and with the crazy schedule, i don’t think its fully useful, just yet.

by grego21 on Jan 7, 2012 10:24 PM CST up reply actions 5 recs
I think one of Miami’s problems may be that they pretty much rely on the 3 Amigos putting in heavy minutes, yet all three have somewhat of a history of being injury prone. They have to depend on the timing of their injuries, since I wouldn’t expect them to get far in the playoffs if one of them are hurting.

Awesome win, everybody. Both teams fought for that one. Great to see so many guys on the Spurs step up and perform in crunch time.

RJ, Green, Ford were all solid. Blair was pretty good also.
Green had a career game though.

Who? Blair? Yes. I’d say it’s a win if you at least get the offensive production out of Blair. It’s better than seeing all his crazy post shots that clank or his 5 foot chip shots.
I was shocked to see him play the big in the small ball unit, but it is the first night of back-to-backs.

Interesting stats…
Stat of the game: Green erupted for a career-high 24 points off the bench, keying a strong effort as the Spurs’ reserves combined for 53 bench points.
Stat of the game II: Jefferson went 5 for 8 from beyond the 3-point arc. He now has 26 3-pointers for the season to share the league lead with Boston’s Paul Pierce.
Stat of the game III: For the first time since 2007-08, the Spurs have won their first six home games of the season. San Antonio started that season with 13 straight home wins.
Weird stat of the game: Saturday’s game marked only the fourth game in Duncan’s career where he has played at least 19 minutes and grabbed two rebounds or less.
Weird stat of the game II: Denver shot 56.8 percent from the field. According to Basketball-Reference.com, the last time the Nuggets lost when they shot 56.8 percent came on March 14, 2000. In that game, they were defeated at the Los Angeles Clippers, 110-106. In the NBA last season, a team shot that percentage and lost only twice all season.
Quote of the game: "The ref said he got all ball. I don’t know. He got away with murder," Lawson, on Jefferson’s controversial late blocked shot that served as a turning point.

Although Paul Pierce has missed games. That’s crazy.
by silverandblack_davis on Jan 8, 2012 6:38 AM CST up reply actions 3 recs
Aw, nothing controversial about that block. The refs had been swallowing their whistles all game, for both teams. Denver gets to the line a lot, and they sort of feel entitled about it. George Karl has a lot to do with that.

the stiffs are all mad about the refs, i just can’t see how the refs are trying to help the spurs win if the opposing team gets 8 more free throw attempts…

Stiffs fans have never struck me as too sharp when it comes to observing basketball. I know that sounds harsh but they complain about officiating more than any other fans base I’ve read, and usually with inaccuracy.

Foul or not, those are the breaks of the game. No ref also probably didn’t have a clear view of the play, given how fast it happened.

Green is winning me over quickly, I hope he continues to play solid. He showed the whole package last night. He played solid defense, hit pull up jump shots, hit his open shots and even drove to the hoop nicely.

He is a gamer. Makes up for his not overwhelming speed with his length, court vision, and anticipation. Hit some big shots calmly. Pop’s praise of him last night after the game was about as effusive as you will ever hear from Gregg Popovich.
