Wow, Ford and Jamnesty, really solid and efficient on the stat sheet.

This would be more appropriate had the movie not been a bust, but here it is anyway.

Yea, the Green Lantern movie sucked. Too bad, such a timeless and cool character.

isn’t his weakness the color yellow?

The Green Lantern comic series gets pretty esoteric for a story about a man with a jewelry fixation.
That said, it’s one of those things that starts to make a bit more sense when in context — but that doesn’t make it easier to sell to the masses.

The ‘green’ and ‘yellow’ are metaphors and I believe much later in the storyline, they equate ‘yellow’ with fear.
The whole green lantern power thing is predicated on mental toughness. So even though yellow is a weakness for the average lantern, the strongest mind of them is able to conquer it and thus any fears. In one edition when Bats (Batman) gets to wear a ring, he was the strongest of them all coz as we all know Bats is just cool like that.
Lantern is part of the Justic League etc and he is more than just an Earth hero. He is pretty cool :)
I just had to defend the Lantern core.
That Manu guy was holding the team back, I think. We’ll go 60-0 without him.

We might have to win this way all season long. One guy stepping up. Today it was Green, tomorrow it might be Anderson. This is how we have to play.

Yeah. Tonight I thought Anderson and Neal would have to make big contributions, but Green came up huge.

I agree. A single game is enough to evaluate players. Let’s trade both and a first rounder for Monta Ellis, who was hitting his shots today.

Thats actually not a horrible trade, I seriously doubt the Suns bite on that though. I have always thought Steve Nash was the best PG of the last decade or so. Though hes pretty old now. His offense and orchestration of offense readily nullifies his poor defense.

Your right though, I dont know that Nashs last couple of productive years is worth having Tony at a high level for the next few. I just drool at the thought of Nash hooking everyone up with easy shots. Him and Manu would spell death for the opposition.

Now I understand....
Why so many people were high on Danny Green. Maybe it is the Tarheel hater in me but I thought the guy was a scrub an to be honest I’m still waiting for him to consistently play solid like he did tonight before I change my mind. Screw UNC!!!!!!! LOL.
On the real Green balled tonight and he was one of the main reason we pulled this win out.

I’ll give you that. I just know, he was a big part of UNC’s winning years during his time. He was key there. Smart guy and he’s defense first with an athletic body, but also has a great shot.
He’s arguably the best wing defender. I definitely cringed with Neal in there, as the guards on GS ripped him apart. That said, they also did pretty well against Leonard and Anderson too.
I’ll stand by Green, Ford and even RJ. :)
Winter is coming
Yeah Neal looked awful on defense but he wasn’t that great last year on defense anyway. I was surprised at how well the lil guards scored against Anderson and Leonard though, especially Curry. I mean I can kind of understand Ellis torching the young guys because of his athletic and finishing ability. Curry is a great shooter and a smart shot creator but not really gonna blow by you or finish crazy in traffic like Ellis.
I wish we would’ve had a real training camp and season this year because I’m sure it would help both of them
One thing i can do...................is FINGER ROLL.
by gunnin' gervin on Jan 5, 2012 1:28 AM CST up reply actions
Yes, he wasn’t great, but he was quicker. He was a step slow in this game. Austin would have at least got him in more game shape for defense. His shot when he had time was good, but all the off the dribble (more than 2-3 dribbles) was pretty bad on offense.
I looked back and realized Green didn’t see time until the end of the 3rd. I’m going to be really pissed if Pop pulls that again. Green has been outplaying all the wings so he definitely deserves more time.
That said, yes, GSW is a great wing team and not exactly ideal to test Neal’s D.
Winter is coming
I met Dale tonight at the game. It’s weird meeting someone you’ve just read for so long. Dude can definitely talk! But all interesting stuff. Great game tonight with a lot of promising beginnings.

Man, Neal really should stay in Austin. He’s a step too slow on D. At least, he can’t play against a team like GS who has solid guards… Once the better defensive wings, like Green were in, things changed a lot.
Winter is coming
he was very rusty but he still hit some shots. I dont think he should stay in Austin, especially this season where he’s not going to get time to practice with the Spurs. I’m not worried about him.
"He was just a young skinny guy who looked like a winner. We didn’t know he was going to be as good as he is."
—Popovich on Manu Ginobili
Yes, but his defense needs work. It’s tough to experiment on defense when the team is giving up points way too easily.
Winter is coming
It does need work, it was average at best last year, to be fair Ellis and Curry were torching everybody last night and it was Neal first game in a while.
But the point I’m trying to make is that Neal is better off staying with the team instead of going to Austin especially is this condensed season. Thats the best way to get into NBA shape and get chemistry with your new teammates.
"He was just a young skinny guy who looked like a winner. We didn’t know he was going to be as good as he is."
—Popovich on Manu Ginobili
Yes, they were outside of Green. That said, the Spurs had their worst hit on D when Neal was in. The +/- even supports that part.
I’m not saying Neal is bad for the team overall, but the lineups did not work well, defensively, when he was in. Against GSW, it just didn’t work as the net benefit was worse than the net gain.
That can change depending on the team, but I think Pop should have pulled him sooner.
Winter is coming
That slap had some force to it. But Tony made some really huge shots after this little confrontation.
He must be slapped before the beginning of every game from now on.
