Since General Manager Dell Demps said this past Friday they intend to trade Kaman, at least five teams have inquired, including Southwest Division rivals the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets.

Interesting. I wonder who they might give up? Gotta think RJ would be involved just to get the contracts close.
Actually, the only way the league would approve of such a thing is if it was someone better. Like, say, a certain French point guard. So I don’t like this.

No, we wouldn’t trade Tony. I don’t think this trade has any chance of happening. Kaman is okay, but he’s not special. Plus, the dude is injury prone. No way the Spurs roll the dice unless a third team is involved and all we give up is RJ/Bonner, or something like that.

That’s the thing. The only reason I can see for the Spurs wanting to do this is that Kaman is a gigantic expiring contract. In other words, accept that this season is lost and get as much cap space as possible for the summer. Kaman isn’t good enough to justify a trade w/matching salaries from a basketball standpoint.

But that doesn’t make a lot of sense since you can just amnesty RJ. And you just threw out Joseph, a nice looking PG and whatever else.
That and as odd as Bonner can be, his contract is trade friendly always, so he could be used for a better, future deal.
Winter is coming
Unless they trade RJ and amnesty Bonner- meaning I think every contract except for Tony and Manu’s would be off the books.

You guys keep talking about RJ. The league would never approve of taking on one of the league’s worst contracts in place of Kaman’s gigantic expiring.
Even though Tony’s contract is bigger, he has the talent/star power to back it up, which could possibly help convince Gordon to stay. This is why I fear what we would have to give up for Kaman. And then, Spurs would still be able to amnesty RJ, freeing up a crapload of cap space. That’s the only way I can think of that such a trade would make sense for both teams. I don’t like it, and I’m sure none of you do, but it would at least explain the situation somewhat.
(And if the Spurs are indeed going into extreme cost-cuting mode, that somewhat explains the Anderson decision as well.)

I completely agree- I was just throwing out the “Extreme cost cutting mode” scenario, because it’s something I haven’t seen discussed at all.

It’s as realistic as any of the other Kaman scenarios.

And, to be clear, you’re right.

You got a point. I don’t see Kaman as realistic. It’s not even a good pipe dream. I mean, why not just go for broke then.. Lets just take on Lamarcus Aldridge..

The Hornets want expiring contracts, draft picks and young talent.
Sounds like we may not be able to work anything out unless they’ll take Anderson….and….I got nothing.
Smoke and Mirrors. The Spurs wouldnot part with any of the pieces LA would be asking for.
As much as we need another big, it doesnt look like its happening this season without gutting our core of young promising players.

The only way we get him is if another team gets involved and still it would be very tricky. 14mill players are hard to trade, specially if the hornets dont want Jefferson.

Time for Dell Demps to toss his former team a bone. In all seriousness, I dont even know if Kaman plays the kind of defense we need inside.

Not even close.
