His defense is terrible but we are desperate for size
He would be like Rasho Nesterovic but with worst defense
He is nothing like Rasho.
Nesterovic was an excellent and underrated defender, and he was limited offensively but knew how to pick his spots and be effective. He was great for us until he got injured.
Kaman is the total oposite of Rasho.

If we can get him on the cheap, then yeah why the hell not.
But we shouldnt spend much on a guy that really doesnt fit (he is strictly a center, and his jumper is decent but not reliable), doesnt help our D problem (he is average at the very best) and is an awful passer (piles TO’s like a madman).
Aside from that, Kaman is an excellent rebounder and scorer, a guy who can put the ball in the basket with both hands, a guy you can give him the ball in the post and get something out of it (if he doesnt turn it over first). A good free throw shooter too.

The Hornets will have a problem trying to trade him since they just recently received him in a trade. It limits the ways he might be packaged in a trade, and matching salaries will be tough for most teams. I’d think there could be a chance for him to be moved to Cleveland, who has some cap room and could wind up with even more after his contract expires to go after free agents. They might move Varajeo to do it, since he has 4 years left on his contract, but the Hornets likely wouldn’t want him in return. Seems possible that the Spurs might figure out a way to take on Varejeo’s contract by moving some young players and either Bonner or RJ. Bonner might be the better option since neither Cleveland nor the Hornets would want RJ’s contract and the Spurs could still amnesty him at the end of the year. The Spurs could likely pull it off with Bonner, Anderson, Blair and Neal going out. Cuts back on their depth, but they’d still have Green, Kawhi and Joseph; and might add Butler from the Toros.
Just send the 4 outgoing Spurs to the Cavs for Varejao and it would work. I’m not quite sure how any of the teams would quite like the trade but it would work out. No doubt there would be draft picks and cash involved moving places, and some of the incentive is simply to reduce salaries. I’m not quite so sure I’d give up the 4 Spurs just for Varejao, they might need some added incentive.
I would trade ANYTHING outside of the big 3 for Varejao. He is a real beast, a guy who makes you win. He does all the dirty work exceptionally well and doesnt complain about it. Gives you 150% effort every game.
A Tiago-Varejao brazilian tandem would be so destructive.

They would most likely want Tiago in a trade. I think anybody we trade with would want him added in the trade

I also saw that Eric Gordon is still waiting to hear about a contract extension from the NOOCH. I think they only have a short time before he becomes a restricted Free Agent.
F’ing Stern makes the CP3 deal with the Clips and then lets the acquired assets walk. No doubt that’s gonna make the Hornets even more valuable. He’s like a GM genius.

Oh yeah, looks like Wednesday was the deadline. And since they failed to reach an agreement, he will be a restricted free agent at the end of this year.
So it seems likely that he just wants close to a max deal. And since the Nooch can pay him more than any other team and also match any offer sheet he signs with another team, they don’t have much incentive to give him more now. So they’ll wait and let the market set the price next off-season.
Also, if the dude wants out of Nooch quickly he can sign a 1-year deal after which he would become a unrestricted free agent. But he would have to leave a bunch of cash on the table to do it.

I dont like it
But He can help with Rebounds …
Last game Love grab 16 Reb .. ok he is kevin love
But Pekovic grab 10 reb … how is that possible???
i wouldn’t mind trying to get him at all. i think he’s a good player, but if he doesn’t pan out, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent (trust me, i’ve checked just to make sure) after this season and his contract will be off the books, as well as Duncan’s. we’d have money to try and at least compete for a good free agent.
here’s what Project Spurs wrote about Kaman and trade scenarios: http://projectspurs.com/2012-articles/january/kaman-on-the-trade-block-spurs-reportedly-interested.html

There’s no good deal at this point now that Dyess’ contract is out of the picture. It’s just not worth it as Kaman doesn’t really cover any of the Spurs needs.
Winter is coming
a big man comes to mind as a Spurs need. :)

If the Spurs were to add any big man in place of Malcolm Thomas, is there any guaranty that Pop would give him much additional time in the rotation or would he have to be slowly given minutes? I’m not sure anyone could say for sure that Kaman would be any better defensively than Thomas, but to get Kaman would require giving up a lot of depth at other spots. Kaman has been somewhat injury prone, so the Spurs might acquire him and then have him out for the remainder of the season. I just don’t see any way the Spurs could acquire him in a trade that works for them while having Stern approve it.
Most of the proposed trades (if not all) include sending RJ to the Hornets. I doubt Stern would allow it, to much of a contract commitment. The Hornets would be better off to just let Kaman’s contract expire and have cap room to pursue a free agent, they wouldn’t want RJ (or at least Stern wouldn’t want him).
Dont touch Tiago, Green, or Neal.
