Per SpursNation:

Jeff McDonald reports Tim Duncan will sit out tonight’s road game against the Rockets – the second night in a back-to-back for the Spurs. Matt Bonner will start in Duncan’s place. This is the first time this season Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has rested Duncan for a whole game.

I understand why he’s not starting Splitter- that would leave us no bigs off the bench. But I’d much rather see us start Dejuan at the 5 and play smaller for a bit, because neither Dalembert nor Scola can handle Blair or a SF posing as a PF.

Parker
Neal or Green
Kawhi
RJ
Blair

by cuentaluis1 on Jan 21, 2012 6:19 PM CST up reply actions

The problem with Blair-Bonner combo is the defense and rebounding. And the rebounding has been horrible in the last 2 games.

Splitter should rack some serious minutes. I don’t think the rockets can handle him. Unless he takes an arrow to the knee.

Well, if TD is not playing, hopefully Splitter gets his game on. I’m not sure why Pop starts Bonner, but oh well. I say trade him and Anderson, for Ray Allen.
