Losing Camby hurt them bad. This was a weird night. A Friday 13th kind of night. Aldridge also got in foul trouble.

Our youngsters played pretty good D on LA in the 2nd half. He still got his points, but it was not an easy game for him (as some of our previous match ups).

Both teams played hard

by Kondor on Jan 13, 2012 11:28 PM CST up reply actions

Definitely. Not trying to take anything away from them, but Camby being out hurt. Leonard and Green definitely played good help D on him while Splitter covered him. That was a solid unit.

Winter is coming

by grego21 on Jan 13, 2012 11:29 PM CST up reply actions

Yes, Camby was a big loss for them. Still it was impressive how Splitter dominated in the 3rd, even though it wasn’t against the strongest possible opposition. Hopefully, he can play like that more often.

Also, I had the biggest man crush on Coria (remember Coria, the guy who was the best clay player out there before Nadal) and Nadal beat him in like 3 straight finals.

Dude… Coria? You complain about Nadal’s attitude and you’re a Coria fan? He was the biggest shit our country produced. Remember when he faked being injured against Gaudio, beat him, and then limped to midcourt? Or when he grabbed his balls at the other player? Or when he insulted the ref and was always disqualified? Or when he spat in the general direction of Hewitt? Or or or or.

Nadal makes tennis fun, annoying as he may be. (And I agree there.)

by LatinD on Jan 14, 2012 2:25 AM CST up reply actions

Coria was the most driven and talented tennis player Argentina has produced since the 70s. He was so dedicated that he burned out and had to retire. He was one of the most talented players I’ve ever seen and he was constantly, unfairly criticized by the press while less driven players ::cough Gaudio and Nalbandian cough:: were lauded for being fun and friendly while he was reserved. The press didn’t like his “boring” and uber-competitive personality, so he was always getting overlooked in favor of lesser players.

Let’s not even start with the “fake” injury. That’s what Gaudio thought was going on. The guy whose multiple nervous breakdowns made the one portrayed in that scene from The Royal Tennembaums seem tame in comparison.

Everyone in tennis bitches to the refs and I don’t remember him getting “always disqualified” at all. The incident with Hewitt was unfortunate, but if there’s a tennis player who deserves it, it’s Hewitt. Coria was not the only one that did that to Lleyton, you know.

As for Nadal making tennis fun, he probably does for a lot of people. I had more fun watching Coria and right now I have more fun watching other guys than him.

Got the Spurs back in it in the second quarter. Might be the only player on the second unit that can consistently create and sometimes hit shots. Is already a better backup point guard than Gary Neal.

I don’t know if I agree from a passing standpoint, but when you take into consideration his size and ability to defend, I guess I can agree.

by grego21 on Jan 13, 2012 11:28 PM CST reply actions

Team-leading +29 is nothing to be ashamed of, but I wouldn’t be in hurry to throw Gary under the green bus. Neal is clearly playing out of position, and he is not horrible, though you wouldn’t mistake him for Manu or TJ.

by Kondor on Jan 13, 2012 11:47 PM CST up reply actions

Oh, I think Green has a better two way value, especially right now. I rather see Green on the floor playing more minutes.

I actually was saying that Neal would be out of the rotation when he came back (pre-Manu injury) when Green was playing good and Anderson was still playing. But I was wrong.

Nope, but if Pop’s idea was pushing D, then it made sense that he’d lose some time.

Winter is coming

by grego21 on Jan 14, 2012 1:17 AM CST up reply actions

Seemed to me that Anderson was looking pretty good other than being off a bit on his shot and would just need to get in rhythm. He got only one start with Manu gone and the next game only played 6 minutes off the bench. He’s only played more than 10 minutes once out of the 5 or 6 games since, and has had very few shot attempts. If he lost his spot in the rotation due to having his shot off (he averaged 21 minutes before Manu’s injury), he’s not going to get it back from the bench. I suppose he’ll need to play outstanding D when he gets in to recover some minutes.

by Alamo on Jan 14, 2012 12:48 AM CST up reply actions

I think, he lost his minutes mainly because other guys at his positions (he is 2-3) all played better than him.

by Kondor on Jan 14, 2012 12:55 AM CST up reply actions

The spurs are full of shooting guards
We trade George Hill and the spurs still rock at that position, probably the only position that the spurs can dominate

James Anderson just need to find his shot … The talent is there … If you send him to the Nets or something … probably he is going to average like 15-18 points

Keep the faith!!

by Heman on Jan 14, 2012 1:04 AM CST up reply actions

Perhaps. But Anderson has talent that is just untapped so to speak. I think its slightly different. No practices and short training camp have hurt him a lot it seems, especially since his shot was off to start the season.

Winter is coming

by grego21 on Jan 14, 2012 1:19 AM CST up reply actions

Anderson hasn’t looked so great on offense since his shot wasn’t falling, but otherwise looks capable of exploding on offense just as he had demonstrated in college. I’d agree that the offense has been playing well enough without his contribution and so the focus could be on who makes the best contribution to the defense. When the offense does bog down, Anderson seems capable of getting it moving again. I think he will eventually boost the offense simply by being able to draw fouls.

by Alamo on Jan 14, 2012 12:50 PM CST up reply actions

What sucks is there are no practices this season so he’s pretty much screwed this season, until practices come about.
