06.09.11 NBA Finals Game 5 Loser Thread
"Game 5, Let's go!" Sorry. I always think of that whenever I hear the words Game [ insert number here ]. In the Chicago Bulls 1992 Championship Video, Stacey King says that out loud during pregame warm-ups (of Game 4), while he and Cliff Levingston are on the bench. That's about right. (Fast forward to about 7:20 in that clip for some nostalgia.)
The Mavs had another amazing comeback on Tuesday. Dirk had a temperature of 101, and Lebron had 8. Points, that is. Needless to say, he hasn't heard the end of that for the last 48 hours. Game 5 is tonight. Who takes the series lead?
Vote ya Losers!

Personalities aside who wins, Mayweather or Pac?
"Winning isn't everything. The will to win is the only thing."
Even though Mayweather is the better technical and defensive fighter, I think Manny’s constant punching and power would win the fight. Damnit, I just want to be able to see it.

Id have to go with Mayweather, when he wants to he can be dominate both offensively and defensively

Floyd’s not going to KO Manny, but he could outpoint him.
I do not want people to be agreeable, as it saves me the trouble of liking them. - Jane Austen
I’m also getting tired of the “hit but don’t get hit” style. Experts call it beautiful boxing but it chases away the casual fans. I mean, why call it a “fight” when somebody just constantly runs around the ring and doesn’t look for knockdowns? It’s killing the sport.
by silverandblack_davis on Jun 9, 2011 10:20 PM CDT up reply actions
“Hit but dont get hit” has been around forever and is needed in boxing fundamentals
"Winning isn't everything. The will to win is the only thing."

"Kevin Garnett once described defending Tim Duncan as "trying to guard a tree"
Epiphany. I finally realized why I want Dallas to win.
It’s that losing will hurt Miami more than it will Dallas. You see, Dallas is used to winning, and they’ve been called chokers for years now. No one expected anything of them, and they were swept out in the first round by the Spurs last season. They’ve suffered, so this will be more of a relief.
But LeBron, Wade, et al? They have a sense of entitlement that I can’t wait to see crushed against hard, cold, uncaring reality.
Yeah, I think that’s why. Now I just hope reality is hard, cold and uncaring instead of just predictable.

If he wanted them to get better, why not? That’s how Jordan tested out how tough his teammates can get — destroyed them in practices, in drills, one-on-ones, everything. LeBron? He passed them the rock to see if they can make shots and if they didn’t, he quit.
by silverandblack_davis on Jun 9, 2011 10:49 PM CDT up reply actions
Using that logic Duncan has quit thousands of times, because he never punched a teammeate and he has passed them the ball millions of times to see if they can make shots.

Can you imagine Jordan on Twitter? After each win he would talk about those who doubted him. After a 70 win season it would get pretty old.
I prefer to think of Hipuks as an asexual mouse.- LatinD
I doubt he’d get on Twitter anyways. See that’s the thing. Jordan knew his fame was some sort of curse as well, and he preferred to hole up in hotel rooms and play cards the whole night or go golfing for hours rather than hosting parties or say dumb things and all that stuff. He knew how to handle his fame.

Blasphemy, Jordan was the god of basketball, never did wrong, never cheated on his wife, gambled, said stupid shit, choked early in his career, etc etc.
A man gets the eye of a Tiger, but a Tiger gets the eye of a Manu.
What’s your point? That we didn’t hate Jordan, so we can’t hate LeBron?
I can counter that with:
- Jordan introduced me to the NBA.
- Jordan was prettier to look at.
- Jordan never made it so obvious.
- Jordan stayed with the Bulls.
In fairness, Jordan had better talent alongside him than Lebron did in CLE.
Time to build a new dynasty from the ashes of the old one.
He waited for it, though. And it looked hopeless after 5 or 6 years. Pippen’s mind was weaker than a cards castle.

My point is that (as I said many times before) Lebron has the exact same attitude than 80% of the NBA players. He is no worse than the average player.
Do you want to know who is an above average asshole? Kevin Garnett.
A lot of guys say stupid and arrogant things game after game after game, Lebron just does it once in like 5 games. He gets scrutinized because he is probably the best player.
"Kevin Garnett once described defending Tim Duncan as "trying to guard a tree"
Extremely talented assholes are always more irksome. The continuous exposure doesn’t help, either.
And no, I don’t think 80% of NBA players are like LeBron.
