Monroe: Ginobili Ready to Rise From the Ashes
It's good to know that one of the Spurs all-star guards still believes. The guy is such a competitor ( I especially loved the stuff about not being able to stomach watching the Finals).

Love this guy. Hope player’s insurance gets settled so he can play for his country this summer.

I’d prefer he not play. He hasn’t had luck with injuries (coming at the worst times) and his past injuries came from summer play. His age doesn’t exactly make things easier on the body.

I’d prefer him not to want to play. But I’d also prefer him to do want he feels is right.

Of course. He’s free to do what he wants to do, but Spurs chances of championship diminish to nearly zero if he plays in the summer based on past history.

that just means we’re due for a championship with him playing in the summer. The lock-out will also help.

Actually, it’s quite the opposite. The years the Spurs won a championship with Manu (the last 3 Spurs ’chips) came directly following the summer where Manu played in a World Championship or Olympic Games.
-Played in ’02 Worlds, then won ’03 NBA title
-2004 Olympics … ’05 NBA champ
- 06 Worlds, 07 NBA champ
The years build up on all of the big 3, Manu and Duncan specifically. There’s a reason why Duncan’s body has needed extended rest during the season. However, the injuries also likely prevented the Spurs from winning a back-to-back title among other things. Duncan’s included. Summer play has been bad to the Spurs. Great for the player, but if you are specifically focusing on the team, then it has been bad for the team.

I don’t think he’s giving the Grizz enough credit, and (I hate to say this) but he’s giving the Spurs too much credit.
I am just not down with the "If we would have beaten the Grizz, we could have won it all" sentiment.
There is no evidence that the problems plaguing San Antonio in the first round (Poor bench play, Poor defense, bad outside shooting, bad superstar play) would not have bitten the Spurs in the ass against an even better opponent, ala Dallas, OKC, Miami, etc.
Manu is spot on with his comments 99.99% of the time, but I don’t agree here.
A man gets the eye of a Tiger, but a Tiger gets the eye of a Manu.
I don’t think the other teams presented near as many matchup problems. The Thunder don’t have great wing depth on the bench (which is our strength). I don’t have much of an opinion on the argument overall, but I definitely see why people believe it.
Unbelievable Time distortion space is the place Mean Gene Okerlund go down that lonesome highway but don't be hypnotized no- reincarnation doesn't have to be you can concentrate and you can-mental telepathy YEAH! But the beat goes on.

OKC, did improve their bench depth and the Spurs never saw them after their changes. That’s not to say that OKC was as tough as Memphis would be, but the Spurs had a lot of holes. The big one was that a lot of the team was struggling going into the post season. Neal his his wall, Hill didn’t bring it. Bonner started off well. RJ tapered off.
Anything is possible, but the Spurs looked pretty weak going into the post season and not so hot even when they won their games against the Grizz.
Credit goes to Memphis for making Spurs look so bad, but the Spurs were much hotter going into post season last year than they were this year. This current roster had the better chance, but it all fell apart down the stretch.
Heck, if not for the Lakers collapse down the stretch, Spurs might have been the 2nd seed.

And then you guys could have beat Dallas for us and we would have finished off the rest of the pretenders and would have (another) 3-peat!!!
Woohoo! I like this game.
"Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it." olf
ball movement and execution were big problems in almost all the games. if manu had 2 arms it would have been a lot less of an issue.
having said that def and reliance on the 3 ball were an issue and historically not a good sign
