Hipuks' Loser Thread. U jelly?

God damn it people, it takes almost no effort at all to make a loser thread, and yet we all wait for someone else to do it. Hell, even the Lakers blog has a Loser Thread set up everyday. They call it " At the bar", like they're all too cool to be in a loser thread.

"Hey honey where are you going?"

"I'm going to the bar god damn it, I need my space. And I'm gonna wear my cool leather jacket."

Talk about whatever the hell you want. Pictures of T-Mobile girl are always welcome, remarks about her gums are not.

All Four of Coke’s Classic Bottles Since 1899 Have Been Reissued for Their 125th Birthday
At £2 ($3.25), the Hutchison bottles aren’t too badly priced, but you’d have to be a real Coke fan to spend £40 ($65) on the wooden collectors’ case.

I need this, badly.

They still use coca leaves for the flavor. There’s only one company in the U.S. that extracts the cocaine from the coca leaves, and they use those coca leaves to make Coca Cola. I still believe some of the essence of the plant is what makes Coke so freaking awesome.

In the United States, Stepan Company is the only manufacturing plant authorized by the Federal Government to import and process the coca plant,34 which it obtains mainly from Peru and, to a lesser extent, Bolivia. Besides producing the coca flavoring agent for Coca-Cola, Stepan Company extracts cocaine from the coca leaves, which it sells to Mallinckrodt, a St. Louis, Missouri pharmaceutical manufacturer that is the only company in the United States licensed to purify cocaine for medicinal use.35

It is totally awesome – I don’t like it (Chiapan beans) much unmixed from the 2 to 1 ration I describe here though. For the coffee beans from Chiapas, try searching on ‘Ruta Maya’ coffee (100% organic, shade grown, fair trade, etc.). I think you can get them from Amazon or even ‘locally’ from Costco. We have it in the H.E.B. stores here.

I used to drink straight coffee. No creamer. For years. At some point, I had to add creamer to buffer the acidity, so I didn’t suffer from stomach upset in my more recent years. It is still ‘coffee’ IMO, if you have to do that.

You might like Vietnamese coffee as well, if you like the cream and sugar – I’d like to still be able to just have it straight myself. I find it a bit too sweet though, they used evaporated milk in it. It will kick you into high gear, however. It is really good after a big bowl of Pho.

by Tim C. on May 13, 2011 3:03 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, yes. It is roughly true about the caffeine. DP and Mountain Dew (and some others like Big Red or Fanta Red) have more caffeine than colas on about that order of magnitude. The “sugar” thing, I suppose, differs with where you are. It has been harder to find real cane sugar being used to sweeten any type soda for a long time now since corn-based sweetener became much cheaper (30 or more years ago ?) Cane sugar sweetening seems to be making a comeback now with what is being called ‘Mexican Coca Cola’ and some other types of sodas here in the US. Dr.Pepper has always made available limited quantities of cane sugar-sweetened DP here in Texas.

While the corn sweetener folks will tell you (accurately) that there is no difference to your metabolism between the two types of sweeteners (NOT sugar free ones), To me, none of them taste right unless they use the cane sugar. I’m pretty old-school though.

Excerpts from an interview with T-Mobile Girl
MyDaily: Hi, Carly. We want to know more about you — the real girl, not the 4G girl. What’s your sign?
Carly Foulkes: I’ve always been a Leo, but now with this whole new astrology signs business, it turns out I’m actually a Cancer. I was freaked at first, but now I’ve read up on the Cancer thing and it actually makes a lot more sense.

But we’ve actually debunked those new signs, you know. Relationship status?
I’ve been with my boyfriend Tyler for about two-and-a-half years. He’s amazing. I couldn’t ask for more when it comes to a supportive boyfriend. Plus he’s also an actor so he gets the crazy hours, the last-minute hopping on a plane, all that stuff. We’re really supportive of each others’ careers. (insert forever alone meme now)

What were you like in high school?
OK, I know everyone always says they were geeky, but I was. I have the pictures to prove it. I never went to the high school keggers, I was into musical theater and band. I was a little punk-music kid. I sort of looked tough, because I wore all black and had all these leather cuffs, but as soon as you talked to me, you figured out that I wasn’t tough.

More here.

Depends how the bigs do. That’s a huge weakness for Miami.

I’m going to say Rose goes to town and becomes the media darling that his is but 10 fold. Bosh gets abused. 7 Games Chicago. Bron/Wade do well but the rest of the team doesn’t have the same success.

Boston is old and not really athletic. Chicago has some of that and it plays D.

I dont think Chicago can score enough points to beat the cHeat.

Maybe, maybe not. But Miami isn’t as athletic or deep as the Hawks. Their role players will get more open shots and Rose can get penetration much easier. Either they collapse or he has a lot of easy shots. If he collapses, Korver will have a nice series.

The cHeat can let Rose do whatever he wants and shut the other guys down. Then they can put Wade on Rose in the 4th quarter.

If he keeps penetrating, he’s going to get their already beleaguered bigmen in foul trouble.

In some senses it’ll be a battle between the whistles for Wade/LBJ/Rose.

Boozer can actually work on Bosh. He had trouble on guys like Horford and Smith. Miami doesn’t really have that.

All championship teams do. However, the Heat will need their guys to step up as well especially if Bosh is subpar. Bulls have a better defensive unit than Boston and won’t have half a Rondo.

I am way torn on the Finals this year. I did not want LA to win it (they are the Lakers). Check. I do not want Chicago to win it (fans are unclassy, too good too quick, tired of D-Rose hype), I am indifferent on Miami (cHeat, over it all), and I would prefer to not see Dallas (arch rivals/playoff failures/fun to laugh at). Teams that I would have no problem with winning it all (Spurs, Celtics, Thunder) have already been eliminated, and/or are most likely not going to make it to the Finals.

So basketball is just an off topic to make it seem like we are more important than we really are?

I could be off-base from bunches of you on this one. While I actually do love basketball, specifically NBA – type basketball. What I find “important” at PtR is the camaraderie found in the threads here for those willing to participate. It seems that most folks are here to, I don’t know, just exist and have fun. I don’t really think of myself or the blog as being important in the “big picture” in any other way. But then I don’t think of blogs being that important for any other reason than the one that I just stated.
