The story of how Tiago Splitter was able to play, in pictures.
Our story begins on a warm night in Memphis, Tennessee ...
The Spurs now have lost 15 of their last 18 postseason road games dating back to Game 4 against Phoenix in 2008.
The Spurs are 0-5 in series with Duncan when they trail 3-1.
The Grizzlies led the NBA in forced turnovers with 16.5 per game and steals with 9.40 per game. In this game, they had their best performance of this series forcing the Spurs into 17 turnovers that they turned into 20 points. Memphis also had eight steals, three by Allen.
The Grizzlies went 23-3 in the regular season when holding opponents to 90 points or fewer.

ah, man…. this was so good….
There is a reason I always come back to this site, no matter how long I disappear for.
Does any other site on the net operate with such freewheeling glee that is woefully cloaked under promises of insight and information?
No…
no…

It’s amazing how I can read this, laugh, and have to blink back the tears at the same time. Right now the injury is so raw and painful that opening the door to allow any emotion—laughter, bravado, sarcasm, optimism, anything at all—simply provides a crack sufficient to allow grief to mingle with and overtake whatever the initial impulse might have been.
Look at me, ruining the moment. This is great, Hipuks, really—I laughed. And then I had to swallow hard and blink and resist the impulse to cry like an inconsolable baby. Crazy, huh?
What am I grieving, exactly? I’m not sure. The usual, probably. The marking of the passage of time. “Nothing gold can stay.” As I wrote to Wayne earlier today, I’m so not ready to say good bye to this team. So not ready for Timmy’s career to end with an ignominious first-round defeat followed by a lockout, of all things. A fucking lockout. Not with a bang but a whimper.
“Oh, the miraculous comeback could—” “Don’t give up no—” “It ain’t over til it’s o—”
No, it’s over. We might win the next game, and Timmy might even have some heroics left to show us. And I would like that. But this era is over.
Timmy will be fine, I know that, and it does comfort me. And I’ll be fine too, of course. Eventually. But for a while, it’s gonna hurt, and I don’t care who says “it’s just a game,” I know better, and I’m going to let it hurt. I’ll laugh when I can, even if it makes me cry. Better to have loved and lost? Yeah. I believe that. I do.

Sports is man’s joke on God, Max. You see, God says to man, ’I’ve created a universe where it seems like everything matters, where you’ll have to grapple with life and death and in the end you’ll die anyway, and it won’t really matter.’ So man says to God, ‘Oh, yeah? Within your universe we’re going to create a sub-universe called sports, one that absolutely doesn’t matter, and we’ll follow everything that happens in it as if it were life and death.

I had to Google that to see who said it, and I was thinking “please don’t let it be Mitch Albom, please don’t let it be Mitch Albom,” and then it was Sam Kellerman and I was all, “whew.”
’Cause I liked it.
(Sam was murdered, which is not the part I liked, but it’s a compelling, if heartbreaking, story, which hey, today, more heartbreak? Why not. It’s what’s for dinner.)
I have flying monkeys at my disposal, and I'm not afraid to use them.
Wow, Lauri, that is exactly how I am feeling. I’m watching Wednesday, no matter what, since it might, just might, be Timmy’s last game.
And probably Dyess. And maybe Pop. Who knows what the future holds?
At any rate, it’s all the marbles for this season, which is reason enough for me.
All these GIFs are breaking my browser.
I’m with you guys, I might have missed Timmy’s early years but I don’t want to miss any more. Here’s hoping we have at least a few more, at most we’re still playing in June. Whatever is left, I’m hanging in there.
Hipuks, great post , made me laugh… I gave you rec #29.
I’ve thought about getting a life, but I’m afraid it would get in the way of my Spur addiction.
You are soooo clever! This is just what we needed.
After such a depressing loss, we all really needed a good laugh to dispel the gloom! You put a lot of work into this, and we all really appreciate it.
Laugh on – I’m highly recommending this soothing tonic!

So what are you try to say with this. That Tiago sucked in game 4? Not quite clown. He had better numbers than Timmy, Bonner, Blair, and RJ.

Forgive me, jrw, but I must critique your use of the physcopops dialect.
Too much capitalization and correctly used punctuation. Not enough overlong elipses. No repeated question marks or exclamation points. No use of “freakin” or “1999”.

Good stuff, after a bad night.
Your points at the very end are well placed, also. Aside from all the fears and trepidations people are having about the demise/decline of Western Civilization the Spurs, the difference in last night’s game boils down two two things: turnovers, and free throws. I just want to see the Spurs make adjustments, come out tomorrow night with some fire and a sense of purpose, and we’ll see. Grizz have to feel a lot of momentum. Let’s see if the Spurs can put a stop to it.

Thanks y’all (Look at me, talking like a native Texan) for the positive response. I never thought this post would break the 30-recs barrier, which goes to show how terrible I am at understanding other human beings.
The little “poem” had to be taken off for my post to have the privilege of being front posted, but I was allowed to post it in a comment. Also the whole song thing was unplanned, I was just trying to get to 75 words without typing “copacetic” over and over again. For those who haven’t seen it, here it is:
You’ve got to be kidding me. I post a bunch of pictures and I’ve still have to come up with 75 useless words?
Fine! I’ll write my own version of this beautiful commercial: I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke
I’d like to buy a nuclear bomb
And furnish it with love
Take it out to pee, to the nearest tree
And forget any Spurs loss
I’d like to teach my bomb to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to buy my bomb a toy
And keep it company
I’d like to teach the world to shit
In perfect harmony
When I get my bomb, and turn it on
Without any subtlety
That’s the real thing
My nuke is
When the world ends today
FBI, I was just kidding.

I'll sound boring
But the correct phrase would be “Brasil, o maior do mundo”, etc, etc. “Mais grande” is some sort of pleonasm, it would sound like ‘most biggest of the world’.
On the other hand, this was awesome. Really, really fun. I loled hard, and, uhm, I don’t know exactly why.
I actually researched that part and read some comment on how that phrase wasn’t grammatically correct, but I don’t have any Brazilian friends to ask so I had to leave it as it is. I’m pretty sure it’s the only part of my post that doesn’t make sense.
