SN: Neal not backing down on defense
Neal earned early playing time with his ability to knock down 3-point shots, and Popovich praised his willingness to "stick his nose in" defensively.
"By that I mean that he’s not afraid of contact and won’t be intimidated out of playing defense," Popovich said. "He’s going to be consistent in that regard. He’s not going to back away from physical situations.
"Beyond that, you have to learn how to play defense wisely, and that’s where he’s really improving. He’s learning how to save steps; how to get angles; how to do work early; how not to foul in certain situations. He’s learning to do those sorts of things and be more consistent."

Even though the Mavs shot a higher percentage than we’d like, it’s nice to read about the factual man-defense being played and how successful it was in shutting down an opposing player.
- Thank you SF Giants for an incredible 2010 season and painting the City orange & black!
- I vow to never again mention "playoffs" and "49ers" together until we have a "quarterback."
- You gotta bring ass to get ass.
