Love that article but the title is wrong…unless he means timmy consistently plays smart

The problem with blaming people who are not watching and just looking at stats is everyone does it…do we all know how good Kevin love is, or Aldridge or anyone who isn’t a spur. If you watch the games Duncan does a ton of things that don’t show up in a box score, but he isn’t the only one out there. Because everyone cant watch every game (even when its their jobs as plenty of sports writes are clueless) most people fall back at least a little on stats or team success.

Having said that…

A few games ago tim set a screen on his own man (gasol) who was tring to close out on the open shooter (Jefferson) with the spurs in transition. It is a perfect example of Duncan knowing what was going on and the gasol was the only person that could close out on Jefferson. Big men almost never do this in transition.

A few plays latter the same thing happened and blair ran right next to his man and they were able to close out to Jefferson in almost the exact same place. One resulted in a made 3 the other in a hard close out and the shooter had to pass it up. This isn’t a knock on blair who did what almost everyone else whould do but it shows how great timmy is at these things and he gets no stat for these things.
