AG's Contributing Winners and Losers LAC@SAS
Hello fellow £ders.
Here are my stats based on positive contributions by each player per minute.
| LAC | 0.33 |
| Griffin | 0.82 |
| Paul | 0.35 |
| Jordan | 0.33 |
| Billups | 0.33 |
| Cook | 0.31 |
| Butler | 0.31 |
| Williams | 0.28 |
| Gomes | 0.21 |
| Foye | -0.23 |
| SAS | 0.49 |
| Ginobili | 1.00 |
| Jefferson | 0.73 |
| Parker | 0.72 |
| Blair | 0.71 |
| Anderson | 0.44 |
| Duncan | 0.35 |
| Ford | 0.27 |
| Leonard | 0.25 |
| Bonner | 0.24 |
| Splitter | 0.17 |
Top three contributors for each team are in bold. We can see that Manu had another amazing game! He averaged 1 positive contribution (Point, rebound, steal, assist, block) per minute! Quite a feat! The average of the highest players is generally around .5 per game. We are witnessing RJ3.0 and I am sure I can say that we all like it!
On the flip side, LAC Griffin is a beast but his team is still figuring out how to best assist the team and not just their star PF. Until they find out who will be #2 and #3 on that team, they will continue to struggle. That, and most of them appeared out of shape during the game.
I will edit this post and put up the defensive numbers, hopefully later in this evening. As a comparison, I have added the Memphis game #s below.
Enjoy!
*** Bonner, Ford - much better game than the first one!

| Pargo | 0.29 |
| Randolph | 0.29 |

So far..Manu gets a 1 and that is huge. Your right about the Clips. Vinny has his work cut out and unfortunately he was not able to do it in Chicago. He started Rose off but Coach T turned the switch on that team.
Agree completely – Vinny is going to really start feeling the pressure now that CP and Chauncey have joined the tram

I’d mentioned on one of the earlier posts that somehow some consideration might be given to the +/- stat to reflect how the team plays with the player on the court regardless of his individual stats. In this game, Griffin dominates the stats for the Clippers; but had a 37 for the +/ stat. The Clippers as a team were terrible while he was on the floor regardless of his offensive stats.
Still not sure how to incorporate it but still a worthy idea. The +\- is better than nothing but is generally IMO not regarded as being credibly accurate. I did come up with a defensive formula which is the inverse to this one based on front court/back court defense. I put up the numbers from the Memphis post, will try and do this one as well

Perhaps the +/- integrated with something else like who else the player was with? Maybe how many minutes they played?
For example, if a guy plays 5 minutes during the team’s biggest run, he’s gong to profit off of the +/-. That’s where you might be able to counter some of Bonner’s high +/- moments.

*also this is not strictly offense contributions – defense rebounding, steals, and blocks count ad well

I realize you have some defensive stats, it’s difficult to quantify contributions where no stats can be kept. A player can shut down a normally high scorer without getting a single block, steal or rebound. In the same way, there’s no record of the number of picks a player may have set to give his teammate an open shot. If you were able to calculate how the opponent at the same position did scoring wise compared to their average, you still wouldn’t know how often they were actually matched up versus switching to another player.
i would love to have the numbers to crunch for those stats! too bad they are unavailable as far as i know (except for watching the game with DVR and going through the whole thing over again) maybe if it was my job…

I can’t wait until the Houston game. That’s going to be ugly.
