Bonner to make trip, but doubtful for Tuesday
His teammates having left the practice court to pump some iron in the team’s weight training facility, Spurs forward Matt Bonner looked lonely Sunday while shooting free throws in the company of a pair of coaching interns.
One of the interns asked Bonner whether he would be making the first leg of the Spurs’ Rodeo Road Trip — a three-game trek to Portland, Los Angeles and Sacramento — and the team’s best long-distance shooter shrugged his shoulders.
He suffered a bone bruise in his right knee Jan. 12, and the injury was recently diagnosed as bone marrow edema. Painfully aware that the knee has been slow to heal, Bonner half-expected to be left behind to focus on rest and treatment. After all, the team had sent him home before the conclusion of its three-game trip to New Orleans, Golden State and Utah.
Instead, he was told after practice that he would accompany the team when it departs this afternoon for Portland but would be listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s game.

No useful updates so far….
From MYSA as of after the game….
Bonner waiting: Backup big man Matt Bonner was not in uniform against the Trail Blazers, missing his eighth straight game because of bone marrow edema in his right knee.
"He’s out until he’s in," Popovich said. "I know that sounds crazy, but there’s no structural damage, so it’s just a matter of where it is, pain-wise. When he’s ready to play, he’ll play."
Something was said about a practice yesterday morning in Portland was canceled preventing Bonner from testing his knee, but that he would try it out in this morning’s shootarounds. It seems they might not want to have him test it in a game, though I’d think the likelihood of Owens getting into a game other than garbage minutes is so low that having Bonner suit up ready for an opportunity couldn’t hurt.
