It was DOMINATION - total! The Spurs set several 2010-2011 season records in defeating the Thunder 101 - 74. Aside from the best start 29 - 4 record, the Spurs held an opponent to a season low in points and to a season low in field goal percentage at 32.9%. They also had a season high 60 points in the paint and grabbed 52 rebounds. Oh, and Durant was held to under 20 points.
The Paint Party was enjoyed by us all tonight:
And then there were the two dunks that rattled back out for George and Manu. Looking at the photos, I was left wondering how and why they didn't go in.
But the star of the night was Tim Duncan - 21 points and 9 rebounds in 27 minutes of play. He rested the entire fourth quarter.
And, yes, Tiago missed this shot. I was listening to WOAI on the way home, and Mike Taylor (of whom I am not a big fan) compared Tiago to a dog who was outside in the cold and wanted in the house so bad to get warm that when he finally got in the house he tried so hard to do everything right to avoid being thrown back out into the cold. In other words, he's just just trying too hard and thinking too much instead of just playing his game. (And it was Tiago's birthday.)
Manu continued to struggle through sinus congestion and a bad throat. If you listened to his post game interview, you heard a voice much lower than normal. He played only 25 minutes tonight.
Tony got to rest on the bench after playing just 29 minutes tonight.
Very late in the game, Pop sat RJ in HIS chair and came down to sit with Manu, Tony, and Tim for a brief conversation. Richard looked pretty anxious to get off of Pop's "throne".
And Latin D was given a media pass for the game and got to visit with Manu on the bench before the game. That's Queness with him. And for all you Pounders in the Austin and San Antonio area who missed the pregame gathering, you missed out on homemade alfajores!
