Preferred destinations Knicks, Magic or Lakers. (from CBS News)
Would you trade Bynum for Paul if you were Dell Demps? or the Lakers' GM?

I don’t see how the triangle would benefit him, quite frankly. Maybe if they run a new offense after Phil is gone, he would fit.

World Cup-worthy flopping right there.
Maybe the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Eh, it doesn’t make sense for either team. He’d seemingly be a perfect fit for the Magic.

OK, but it would give the Lakers a starting 5 of Chris Paul, Bryant, Artest, Odom & Gasol. Presumably those five could win a few games even though CP3 isn’t a triangle offense type guard.
From a Hornets perspective, Bynum is likely bigger than any talent they could pry away from the Knicks or Magic. (D Howard or Amare ain’t possibles.) I guess they could get expiring contracts like V Carter’s, etc.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
The Lakers are already built to win a championship, why mess with that? Unless they get a big in return I think it’d be dumb to get rid of Bynum. He makes it hell for opposing big men on the block.

Hey haven’t you heard? The center of the b-ball universe has shifted to the east. Out west people are just trying to keep up with the LeBronses.

Thought he was under contract til 2012. What leverage does Paul have to force NOH to move forward with the trade til then or at least til 2011?

I think Demps would set a bad precedent for himself by trading an unhappy superstar to the teams he wants to go to, two years before his contract is up. Bynum for Paul sounds like a reasonable deal, but it remains to be seen if Andrew has the mettle and durability to be the focus and leader of a team the way Paul has been for the Hornets.
I’m not questioning Bynum’s basketball skills, but all the intangibles of leadership and maturity that go into being “the Man.” Remember, though Bynum has so far survived the pressure-cooker of being an LA Laker, he’s been surrounded by (arguably) four All-Star- or superstar-caliber teammates, plus being protected by the Zen Master Jackson. It’d be a risk for a small-market team to bring him in to replace another superstar.

Woj chimes in. He seems to be on an anti-Lebron tirade these days and points out the connection.
