The Illusion Crushing Thread Strikes Back
Long ago, when PtR had not yet lost its "Trade Tony for scraps" innocence, Hipuks created The Illusion Crushing Thread. It was glorious, and a good time was had by all, but that was 18 months ago. Lots of things have changed between then and now, and we have about 5 metric tons of new regular posters. And so, here we go again...
The rules are simple: post pictures of yourself so everyone else can make comments that Pschologically Devastate you tell you whether or not their illusions about you have been crushed. Oh, and one other rule: no gangrenous foot pictures - that's just nasty.

Here is one of me rocking the ‘03 championship shirt at the frat house. And yes, I began subscribing to Sports Illustrated that year purely for the purpose of getting that t-shirt. Totally worth it by the way, I’ve completely worn out the elbows on the sleeves I’ve worn it so many times.

Here is one of me wearing the ‘05 championship shirt in Washington, DC. That’s the park in Dupont Circle in the background by the way, it’s where a bunch of people go to play chess on days with nice weather.

This is one of me in my Tim Duncan jersey. My friends thought it would be funny to use the guns on this arcade game to pretend to be thug in the photo. I think it just makes me look like a jackass, but it was the only picture I could find of me in my Duncan jersey posted on facebook.

And since everyone else is posting pictures of them with their wives, here is one of us on my graduation day. Well, she wasn’t my wife yet in this picture, she had this whole hang up about me finishing college before getting married. Lame, I know.

And what the hell, one more of me and the wife at a Clemson football game. It’s a lot more fun to look at pictures of her than pictures of me anyway.

GO SPURS GO!
5 IN '10!
I’m kind of bipolar about the beard, as you see in the picture, I’m constantly going back and forth between ridiculous beardage and clean shaven. Basically, I don’t like shaving, but after a few weeks of growing the beard out, it drives me crazy and I have to shave it. Moses beard is a new description for me though, I usually hear Abe Lincoln or Amish.

It’s awesome that you actually wore through the sleeves/elbows of your 2003 shirt; I actually did the exact same thing- ordered worthless SI just to get the shirt and commemorative book, and wore through my sleeves/elbows long ago too.
Of course, on reflection, it may be less an indication of our devotion and fanship and more an indication of SI’s shitty products than anything.

I bet you can’t wait until you can take one with your idol Richard Jefferson.
The people of the village fell silent, as the beast opened its mouth. And then the beast spoke, and said "LOL BRO".
If he played anywhere close to all-star starter level this season, I’d use RJ’s photo as my profile pic.
Notice the second conditional.

At the holy land in my luckiest shirt for the Houston game last season where George Hill went crazy and set his career high in points. 30 points, 7 assists, 5 steals and a block!!! 11-15 from the floor, 6 of 6 from the stripe and 2 of 2 from 3….lights out game for Cubits

Very drunk at Emo’s in Austin back in April with Aaron Marsh, the lead singer of Copeland (favorite band). I wanted to use this pic but I didn’t remember it being that blurry…..or sideways…..it took me more time to pick a youtube song to link to then it did to pick these pictures….

Finally, getting my first and only (so far) tattoo a year ago Saturday. This picture also best shows off my half-jew nose.
Can’t believe that you forgot about that, LD. There was an entire thread where Blase and I discuss the tat in the comments of your writeup of the Spurs game we all saw together.

“Were” is right.
Vignette that kind of sums up my life: The other day when my ex-boyfriend/soon-to-be ex-housemate was moving his stuff out of the house and shed, my ex-husband dropped by to say hey and ended up buying his canoe. About the only thing that could have made that story more perfect is if they had both gone off fishing together.
(Also, my then-b did the narration for a documentary my ex-h made. I get a kick out of making sure the significant people in my life, past and present, meet and like one another. There’s a nice continuity about it all. I guess I’m sort of the constant variable, but we all stay friends. I don’t know. Is that weird? It seems infinitely preferable to the alternative.)
That concludes today’s installment of TMI Theater. Join me next week, when I talk about my complex history with my mother and our perilous journey to rapprochement.

There’s no such thing as HAVING too many acronyms at your disposal. There IS, however, certainly such a thing as USING too many acronyms. And if your entire conversation consists of text speak, I’d say that point has been reached.
I enjoy a new acronym, but I like to use them like paprika. A little bit can liven up a dish, but too much can make it inedible.

This goes against my self-imposed law of internet anonymity, but since I feel a bit ashamed for commenting so much without ever putting up my own photo, I’m making an exception. Forgive me though for choosing such crappy pictures of meself.
The obligatory blurry photo. Me with the ex, snowboarding in an indoor facility in Shanghai.

The non-obligatory semi-blurry sideview photo, showing off my flat nose. This was taken in a Singapore trip. My eyeglasses make me look 10 times less dumb than I really am, as my friends observed.

Here’s all 100 lbs. of me back then trying to play PG. I tried to go for the John Stockton short shorts look, but was a few inches long (TWSS). I’ve gained about 30 more pounds since then and have moved on from the malnourished stage to slightly malnourished. And yes, those shoes I’m wearing are Starburys. Boo-yah.

Hah,I’ll make sure to tryout for the team whenever I get down to SA.
By the way, I watched a local college basketball game about a month ago and they had someone on the team literally without a right arm. It was pretty surreal. His coach put him in for about a minute and then took him out. He didn’t get a whiff of the ball during his time in, but we would’ve exploded in cheers even if he grabbed a rebound.

Everyone has probably moved on by now but I couldn’t really post a picture before because I’ve been super busy. So here it is.

Before you say anything I’ll just say 3 things:
1) I hate having my picture taken but I love to take pictures. When you combined those two traits, it’s not likely to have a good picture of yourself.
2) I’ll post a better, more recent picture of myself when I find one.
3)There’s not a lot of people in the world who can rock a Winnie The Pooh pointy hat with such grace and panache so feel free to compliment me.
"Deep down we all know that swagger comes hand in hand with insecurity. We strut not to convince competitors of our dominance; we strut to convince ourselves."

I actually quite like this picture. It has a very painterly feel to it, and you look like you’re about to bust up laughing, or at least like you’re attempting to suppress a snicker – so there’s a fun, almost whimsical atmosphere to the piece that’s only increased by the party hat.

Nice critique. I think I should send you this one picture I took at the dog beach. Most of my pictures are colorful or sharp and “nice”, but this one I just like on the strength of its composition.
I did a lot of soul searching. I didn't find anything.
Hey Hipuks, I just got back from Santa Barbara yesterday. Are you talking about the dog beach that’s on the north side of SB at the end of Las Positas road? With a little restaurant on the sand? That’s the one I usually go to. It is a lot of fun.
This time we went to one right by the Four Seasons/Biltmore resort. It is just south of all the volleyball courts on Cabrillo Blvd – the main street that runs by the harbor/wharf. I think it is technically in Montecito the town just south of SB. I must say there was lots of nice scenery, at least when we went. Makes me glad it is summer.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
Yeah that’s the one. It’s one of the few off-leash dog beaches in California. Awesome place, and close to a great dog park overlooking the ocean. I actually like the whole area of Carpinteria/ Santa Barbara.
We got a little lost this one time coming back from the beach and ended up in this beautiful road that had been designated a Scenic Route. It was flanked by trees and on either side there were HUGE houses with enormous yards. It must be great being rich.
I did a lot of soul searching. I didn't find anything.
Yeah, it takes a ton of money even to be homeless in Santa Barbara. Great area though. I will say there was more pleasant (bikini type) scenery by the Biltmore. The beach is smaller, street parking and no restaurant but still lots of fun.
You know about the dog beach down here at the north end of Huntington Beach, right? It is just before it turns into Bolsa Chica beach. That is my favorite one nearby and then there are two good ones down in San Diego if you ever get down there.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
I’m a little late to the party, but will post anyway since I’m one of new folks. Both pictures were taken in SA. The first one is pretty obvious, of course. The second one was taken at the Riverwalk with friends pre-game time. Each taken a year apart, yet both games I attended featured Spurs vs. Thunder. Won one, lost one.

Posting for the lovely Mrs. Smith. Tempting as it was to add editorial comments, I refrained and left her own words :-). I did resize the second and the last images to make them smaller and quicker to download.
The first pic is of me about 8 yrs ago, cropped from a family photo. Just add a few more lines around the eyes and it’s pretty close. Well except for the red hair, got rid of that, drew the wrong attention.

Next is a pic of me holding my new granddaughter Bella.

Next pic is a current picture of Bella, mother is a model, can you see the trend starting?

Last is my other granddaughter Emily. She loves the Spurs, Tony is her favorite. My son took this, we loved it and convinced him to go for his dream to be a photographer. He knows so much more now about lighting, etc. His passion is Fashion photography, has worked with a few of the bigger names in the business, met his significant other and viola – Bella. Even if he never makes it in the big league, he’s happier than I’ve ever seen him. All that counts.

For one thing red heads seem to have a rep for bad tempers. So when someone ticked me off, they would say must be the red hair. And I would respond with No you idiot, this red hair is from a bottle, you simply pissed me off.
Another is I used to go dancing a lot, and here in South Texas you have some moron cowboys that apparently are only let off the ranch on weekends. Seems they practice their pick up lines on the cattle all week. I would get lines like Whew wee, look at that red hair!! or I love red heads. Unfortunately the dead pan look doesn’t faze them, they’d just stand there and grin at you. So at least without the red hair, they had to be a little more original. Damn that sounds harsh doesn’t it? Most were very polite and lots of fun to be around. It was just a few that would act that way.
Timmy D .... enough said.
Yeah, I was doing that, maybe I’m not using the right URL. Will it take images from photobucket?
